From WSJ
I am sure this has been discussed umpteen times before...but nevertheless...
Here is the Q&A from the wall street Journal
Quote:
Q: Suppose I'm married but only one of us has a valid Social Security number. Can we get the payment anyway?
A: If only one has a valid Social Security number, neither can receive the payment on a joint return, the IRS says. If the spouse with a Social Security number files a separate return, he or she may qualify for a stimulus payment, based on income and other items reported on that return.
