Default General Question about Non-Immigrant Visa Application

Hi all,

I'm sorry if this was not the correct place to post this, but I just had some quick questions for a friend. I live in the US and my friend in Europe wants to come visit next year. She's already started looking into the things needed for a Non-Immigrant Visa, but some stuff she's read online has got her worried. One thing she's read is that she needs to have $100 per day for every day she plans to spend in the US in order to get the Visa. She also read that mentioning she knows somebody in the US will diminish her chances of getting it, because apparently it increases the risk of her being a potential illegal immigrant.

Again, I apologize if these kind of questions don't belong on this sub-forum. But does anybody know if what she read is correct?
