Let me guess.. your spouse is on H1 and few months back through a desi contractor you were able to get H1 but now have no project or should I say never had a project.. Man this thing never stops, NEVER.
Now to answer your question, just get out of the country and reenter on H4, which I assume you entered to begin with. If you apply for change of status while being in the US then you will need the pay stubs.
