You can definitely bring your wife on H4 visa if you maintain your H1 visa even after applying your I485

What is your status?

If you are on H1 and have a valid visa stamped on passport or have an approval notice for H1 extention, and will go to consulate for stamping, they you may bring your wife on H4. If you do that before August 17th, you may be able to file derivative I-485 for her else you will have to wait until the priority date becomes current to file 485 for her after August 17th.

In the mean time if your 485 gets approved and she did not file for I-485 before the approval of your 485 due to priority date not being current. (not sure whether approvals are going to be any soon, but,) then, what will be your wife's status? Hang in there for knowledgeable members to throw in more light on this...

As per Rajiv Khanna's conference call you can apply for your spouse's 485 anytime latter (with your priority date) as long as you get married before your 485 is approved.

There are other conference call recordings by Rajiv's if any one is interested.
