Hi All,
I had applied for canada immigration as back up in January 2007. I got the request for medicals in the mail. Does anyone know what medicals are needed. What if the TB skin test was positive. For US immigration that was no problem because X-Ray was negative.
Does a medical request mean that the case is approvable??
Thanks

For canadian medical, they do only chest X-ray. If you already did medical for US green card, use that to save the cost. For canadian medicals, they will do HIV, TB and health check-up, which we also get done for US medicals.
It will help in saving you money if you cna get a report from the doctor with whom you did your US medicals.
If this helps, I will request you to help IV with the rally. Any kind of help will be appreciated.

Did you get your IA. If they said no interview required then u are all set. Send your medicals as soon as possible and with in a month or 2 of sending your medicals you should get the passport request.

Yes, I have copies of Medical Reports for US immigration that were done in july. My concern is that TB skin test shows positive and then they did chest x-ray and that shows negative. Is that going to cause problem?
Also, can I take the medical report from US immigration and hopefully, if I can get the actual X-Ray, would that save me money for Canada immigration medical?

Yes, my letter for medicals said, no interview will be required. Does that mean the case is approvable pending medicals?? Isent all the fees and police clearance, fbi fingerprints earlier with the application.
What is IA?

Talk to the doctor to whom you are going for your canadian medicals and ask them.
If they dont have any problems. Sometimes u need to persist with them.
Once they say YES, u r all set and iam sure u will be able to save money.
Please dont take me the wrong way, but if you save then definitely think about contributing to IV.
Its for YOU.

IA stands for Initial Assessment, it means u passed the important initial assessment, it means u r so close to getting the approval, the remaining steps are mostly routine.
You may find in the letter them saying "please note that while an interview is not necessary now, we may request it later", it's unlikely, but they like to cover their bases

I live in Wisconsin and the nearest doctor for canada medical exams is in Chicago. There are 2 docs listed
Serafin Veramendi
Evanston-Rogers Park Family Health Center, 1555 Howard St., Chicago, Illinois, 60626
Boguslaw Chmiel
5325 W Belmont Ave, Chicago, Illinois, 60641
Any one have any experience with these folks? Who seems to be more easy to deal with and probably agreeable to using US immigration medical reports to subsidize costs?

Yes, my friend, I already contribute to IV. I have done it in the past and will keep doing so in the future. I know this is for a great cause. I totally support it.

Does applying for canadian immigration affect the U.S green card process in any way ?
I applied last year for canadian immigration and am close to getting it. I do not have plans to move to Canada at least for the next two years.
Will my US green card application be affected if I get Canadian permanent residency ?

Great Question,
but no answer.
Friend, i applied for Canada greencard and got it this year.
Any country who allows legal immigation has no rule about where all you have applied for immigration.
One can trouble himself with these questions but there are no answers as you must know already.
What if someone says canada GC will negatively affect your GC process, should you not apply to canada...?

With several problems surfacing for have 2 PR - Canadian and US, what if you told the US immigration officer you were visiting Canada for a vacation. I mean you go to Canada for landing purpose and then on return when asked, just tell them you were on a vacation? Will this create a problem?

Every country treats this info individually , no connection at all. They will make note of it as long as u fulfil respective reqs one is good. Reg. VIsiting Canada , u dont need to worry if u r travelling by flight make sure u remove ur I94 and keep it with u dont return ur I94 preserve and use the same while coming back that way u r avoiding any issues on 485 etc. Its by law dont jump on me saying its not feasible there is a rule for Canada or Mexico .

Renew your passport and at same time you can request for additional services as endorsement of VISA's form old passport to new one.
You will get old passport, and you can use it lto show your visas are valid, and in addition you have new passport.
TO answer your question about canada immigration.
i did renew my passport before i went to canada for immigration, no worries at all.
My old passport had expired US H1 visa stamp, i carried my h1 extension and did not get h1 stamped.
I user AVR ( automatic revalidation of visa) to get back in US without actual visa stamp.
No worries, just carry your papers.

Hello,
This is regarding your medical question for Canada PR.
Just wanted to let you know that even if you got ur medicals done for I-485, you have to get your medicals done again for Canadian PR.
************CIC does not accept the 485 medical exam reports****
I know it involves lot of expenditure again, but thats the way it is!!!:(
You are pretty close to the finish line of getting your Canada PR...........once your medicals are sent to Ottawa( sent by the doctors directly and u are not given any copy of your medical report).........you should be getting the Passport request and then you have to get ur visa stamped either in person going to your nearest canada embassy or either sending it via post/fedex.
Hope you find this informative.

Partly correct... However, if you find a doctor who is on both panel the canadian and US immigration (its a minority but there are a few) you can ask the doctor to use some of the results if it hasnt been too long...

I see a lot of people are getting Canadian immigration these days. Isn't there a rule that after getting the green card you have to land in canada within 1 year or you loose your perm residency status? The reason I am asking is that I am planning to start canadian GC but want to finish my full quota of 6 yrs on H1 (3 yrs left right now ) in US. So, if I file now and (let's say) get my GC within 1 yr, plus one year to land; means that I have to leave US before my 6 yr term expires. Is that right?

That is incorrect. You have to land once your application is approved. You normally get 6 months to land. But once you r done with landing you can leave the country. However, you will have to give a canadian address so that they can ship you your PR card. (I gve my friends address). Once u get ur PR card its valid for 5 years. In order to maintain status you have to live 2 years in canada in the 5 year period... which means you can live outside canada for the remaining 3 years!

O Ya! It will screw your GC process. Once your Canada immigration is done, Canadians will put a stamp on both cheeks of your buttock...saying..."immigrated to Canada"!
Coming back to US GC, before issuing GC, US immigration officer will ask you to come to local USCIS office and they will have a good look on your buttock! If you find that Canadians stamped your buttock then you will have to take shower with either LUX or HAMAAM soap to get rid of that stamp right at USCIS office.

Kumar1,
Could you please share any experiences either with you or any of your friends just confirm basis of your note.
Experts,
Please share your opinion on this as this might benefit many people who are considering Canada PR as backup plan.

The question about having Canadian PR and being in the US GC process is important for a lot of people , as it was mentioned above. So please, if you have realy useful data about this problem, provide us with an appropriate link to some oficial sources. Other wise I would advice you not to waste your and our time by posting "funny" links.

They dont do skin test for TB. The skin test is not a positive test. It tests
teh immunity you have. +ve means your body has high imunity that mean you did have the TB attack some time in teh past. However the X ray is teh main one that Canada Imm does.
Also +ve TB is not a ground for rejecting. In case of +ve you get conditional PR meaning you need to go to doctor in Canada from time to time to show
your progress.
Dont worry Xray fine means u are fine
