Travel outside the US without I485 Receipt

I am currently on L1 Visa & I have filed me 485 for my wife, son (currently on L2 visa) & me on 1o Aug o7. Our L1/L2 visa are valid till March 2008.

My wife & son wanted to travel back to origin country.

When I checked with my lawyer they told me that they need I 485 receipts to travel to back home.

1. My question here is can they travel back without I 485 receipt?

2. If they want to come back after March 08 then is there any problem in
getting visa stamped & re-entering the US?

Does this going to effect on GC process?
