I am applying under EB2 with BSC comp sci. I have letters from previous employers in Canada proving over 5 year progressive Exp. Currently the letter content is as follows. Mr X was employed from date A to date B as title of job (sw analyst, sw engr, sr sw engr). If further questions about employment please contact us at phone.number. There is no mention of responsibilities and duties. Just usual Hr letter one would get from the north american tech companies. My lawyer tells me that there is a chance that immigrantion folks might ask for more information. It is difficult for me to tell HR folks of companies where I worked years back to write my responsibilities as some of my managers have already moved to different companies. My question is that can I use these letter as proof of progessive exp for my EB2 case. Any help is extremely appreciated.

Responsibilies, duties and technologies are very important.
For EB-2/EB-3, above mentioned format may not justify 100%.

My EB-2 I-140 was approved under premium processing and my supporting experience letter from a large telecom equipment manufacturer just had my abbreviated job title ("SW DSGR" !), start date, start salary, finish date, finishing salary. No description of job duties whatsoever. So it appears you don't necessarily need a lot of detail.

You won't need much details... Just that your prev employer is reachable and can verify your employment if needed... A big employer will always be a big bonus in this case...

Infact big employers don't give detailed employment history letter easily.. unless you know the manager personally... Thats my experience...

the letters don't have to be "official letterhead". many times the supervisor's are not from the same company, or have moved elsewhere. a simple letter even on plain paper of technical roles usually works accompanied by by the "HR" letter, which just says, "X worked here from this date to this date".

Of course, the person giving that letter has to provide current occupation and contact info to look trustworthy.

also ensure that the details in the letter match teh requirements in the labor certification. Thats most important. If your LC said that the job requires skill X, Y, Z, you need experience letters mentioning those skills.
