I was finally able to open a SR for my missing FP notice. Customer rep was helpful (way more helpful than an IO) and he opened a SR for me. I asked him that my wife did not get her FP notice either and he added her receipt number to my SR. He gave me a confirmation number as well and asked me to wait for 45 days from today...Asked him if my lawyer would also get a copy of FP and he said may be or may not be...I am least concerned if my lawyer gets the courtesy copy or not, bottom line is I need my FP.

I would suggest that you give them a call again and ask to give you a confirmation number for your SR.

I just called the USCIS to enquire abt my FP notice, as I havent received one till now. The person I talked to took my receipt number and name and then told me that the system doesnt show that it has been scheduled till now.. Does it mean that they have still not scheduled my biometrics?? Do they have access to that information? I have a RN date of 19th Sep from NSC, and was hoping to receive FP this week. But if it hasnt been scheduled till now.. there is no point in expecting it for another 10 days.. right?

I am not sure if in my case if it was an SR that was opened because cust rep did not mention it as SR but only said that " I will note that you had called regarding not receiving the FP notice" and took my name,receipt # and address. Is this what they asked you also?

Yes, I talked to a customer and not the IO. I asked him to initiate a SR for me. At the end of the call the rep gave me a confirmation # saying that use this number if you don't hear back from us within 45 days...

Folks,
My case was sent to Texas Service center and than it seems TSC sent it to Vermont and now Vermont has transferred it back to Texas. However Vermont has only transferred I-485 to Texas while EAD and AP are still at Vermont. The question i have is which center will send the FP notice Texas or Vermont.

My notice date is Sept 20. I will be in India all of December until Jan 10th. USCIS customer rep told me not to get alarmed by the language related to fingerprinting. I will recheck on the 90 day period with my lawyer. Since they haven't even scheduled the biometric appointment, I am assuming that I will be within 3 months to reschedule despite the India travel.

from earlier post "pg 69" you will get connected to person who can give u a definate answer... i think they are second level IOs at NSC if you are at NSC currently, try the phone sequence.

I spoke to 1 level Rep not the IO...but I did not get contacted close to 3 weeks now, it seems opening an SR is just buying them extra time, try the sequence from my earlier post to call and see if you get lucky! It take less then 5 minutes to try... give it a shot! atleast NSC people should try this it definately works!

This means that TSC sent ur applications to VSC for data entry and you will soon get your EAD and AP from VSC - FP will come from TSC.

Anyone knows no/sequence for TSC?

For all Centers, the deciding factor is the application number (LIN - Neberaska, WAC - California, EAC - Vermont and SRC - Texas)

Once you enter your 485 application number the phone will get routed to the relevant service center, try it...

I spoke to IO, he said it was mailed and I was surprised to see it in mail today.

My spouse did not get it, but we plan to go together to take a chance if she can also do the FP.

Is there anyone on or after 10th oct (RN)received FP notice....if so plz let me know when is FP? I am traveling to India and want to travel only after FP. I know FP depends on crowd at center..my case is based in San Francisco.

so we called up the US consulate in new delhi, and they said there seems to be some miscommunication from USCIS - they do *NOT* have any biometrics faciities there. So it has to be option (a) or (b) ... wish USCIS customer service reps were more reliable and accountable for answers they give to callers...never mind

My lawyer has told me that one can reschedule FP apmmt for maximum 90 days. I think it depends on your ASC as well. Also, while rescheduling you can attach a cover letter and ticket copy explaining the situation. I have seen people (on forums) whose FP have been postponed conveniently till the date they desired. But dont know if its gauranteed for sure...

I agree with you. My wife has to go for a full finger printing during H stamping in 2003 (got stuck in name check). They took the print using INK on papers and mailed them to FBI in US.

I called back again and they gave me the reference number something like above which I have mentioned. I also said that I wanted to add my spouse's receipt number to it but the cust rep denied saying that my spouse has to be around the time when I call.

Yes, my confirmation number has same pattern as yours...

Your spouse should pursue them...She can try calling them again...

I believe you spoke to an IO and not a cust rep on 10/12/07 , correct? So within 3 days of calling, your appointment already got scheduled , wow that was quick . And I believe you must have dialed the same sequence that has been floating around on this thread with 4 as last option after which it connects you to TSC/NSC/CSC, you wait in queue for long and then an IO answers.

I have also used this sequence quite a few times in the past and sometimes if I got a good IO , they would say that they will re-submit my FP request. But they never gave me any reference number for the re-submit. I am not sure if this was considered as opening an SR.

Its only when I spoke to an cust rep and not an IO is when I got a reference number and the cust rep mentioned about the SR.

I personally don't see a need to request to add your spouse receipt to your SR since they've already opened up a new SR for her. But this is just my advice, if any one senior in this forum has any other views/opinions, please share.

C H A N G I N G FP L O C A T I O N !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If you want to change your location of FP appointment then you can do your FP at any location on W E D N E S D AY only(walk-in's allowed).....other weekdays for appointment people only..........tha't what USCIS customer sevice said..
but some ASC's are accepting weekday walk-in's also.................

It's not necessary to to go on the same day and same time at different location........you can go any wednesday before your appointment date.

Its normal to open 2 SR for 2 People because they are considered 2 different applications... even if you call and want to merge 2 applications they will not allow that... don't worry it is a non-issue.

I opened a SRs for me and spouse on Sept 26 but untill last week I did not get any intimation form USCIS so I used the "phone sequence" and it worked, apparently I found that starting an SR process is their way of buying time. Yes for openeing the SR I also spoke to the 1st level rep. There are quite a few who are getting benefited by that sequence, good luck to you to find a good IO.

ok, that is weird. So you are saying that even though the IO said on Oct 16 that your FP had not been scheduled , you got FP notice on on Oct 17. I opened a SRs for me and spouse on Sept 26 but untill last week I did not get any intimation form USCIS so I used the "phone sequence" and it worked, apparently I found that starting an SR process is their way of buying time. Yes for openeing the SR I also spoke to the 1st level rep. There are quite a few who are getting benefited by that sequence, good luck to you to find a good IO.

Thanks for sharing that. When you called on Oct 12 did you mention to the IO that you had opened an SR on Sept 26 and you have not received anything yet. Yeah sure.. the from address is from Dept of Homeland Security, USCIS, Lincoln, Nebraska..

When I called USCIS that day, I called at the same number thats floating here, and then the lady picked up. I asked her if she could tell me whether my FP has been scheduled till now or not ,and, on this, she asked my receipt number and name.. thats all she asked.. then she told me that there is a heavy backlog in issuing FP etc etc.. I asked her whether she can atleast tell me whether I have been scheduled for FP till now or not. On this she told that she doesnt see that it has been scheduled and that it will take some more time.. I repeated what she said and she confirmed again. I dont know whether she really took the efforts to see in the system or she got my info wrong (though I really doubt that) or that she just told me something to end the call..
Anyways, I am really glad that I received the FP notice as expected..! I was about to buy tickets tomorrow for my trip, and thank God! I saw the mail first..

Instead of 2 PM, can we give our FP in the morning itself? In order to give FP in the morning, have we to call USCIS or just walk-in the morning hours of 11/13?

yes, there are separate notices for the individual to attend the FP. Myself and my wife got separate letters on the same day.

If your letter is not received , pls dont worry. Pls accompany your wife and tell the IO that both you and your wife filed together I-485 and he/ she will allow you to do your FP along with your wife. This is what I have understood from the messages in this forum.

Hi everyone! Just wanted to update that eventhough I called USCIS on 16th Oct and she told me that my fingerprinting has not been scheduled yet, I received my FP notice by mail on 17th Oct.. My 485 Notice date is 19th Sep from NSC, EAD received by mail on 11th Oct, and now FP received yesterday.. My appmt date is in 1st week of Nov and would try walking and preponing it..

Just another update from my side.. I got my fingerprinting done by walking-in today at my ASC.. It was very easy, and they were very co-operative as everyone on this board had been saying. I went as early as possible, arnd 7:50 am, and the office was open, and they took us in. I told that I have to travel and that was it.. I think that since their office had just opened and they didnt have many people there to take in, they took us in. Now I am leaving for India next week! Ask your attorney to mail it to you. You need 'original' for FP. After FP asc will stamp it- send the stamped FP back to your attorney. Save copy for yourself. If you receive your FP notice before scheduled date -use your copy.

I got another notice for my wife after 15 days since she got her FP done. I am not sure why they sent it again though everything went fine in the FP process. May be I just need to send it back with a copy of first FP notice (On which ASC put a stamp with date)

Ask your attorney to mail it to you. You need 'original' for FP. After FP asc will stamp it- send the stamped FP back to your attorney. Save copy for yourself. If you receive your FP notice before scheduled date -use your copy.

I dont think it should be a problem since you are going on the same day.. keep a proper excuse as your back-up, in case they ask. I walked-in successfully 20 days before the appointment date since I had a valid reason, and since at the time I went (i.e, 10 mins prior to their office opening time), their were hardly any people waiting. Though there is no gaurantee, it was definitely worth a try.

- check if there are any LUDs after the notice date (possibly for FP) - call uscis cust service to verify
- check with the attorney for their copy (our attorney got courtsey copies) - and see if that can be used

Well, this is the latest. My minor daughter had finger prining yesterday (10/25) and they demanded pass-port and FP notice and you are done in about 5 minutes if you have these.

I called last week on Wednesday and my FP was not scheduled until then. At least thats what the IO said. I just do not believe anything they say now.

TSC IOs just look up case and say that they will re-submit request but its upto the FP section to schedule , which god only know what it is. However I have read on this thread that someone called NSC and NSC IO scheduled it for him right away and also gave him the date on the phone.

How is it that one service center IO can scheduled while other service center can only submit requests to schedule.

I am begining to think more as days go by that FP is somehow linked with name check and if name check is pending than scheduling FP is of no use. I mean , look how many early July and mid july filers have not receive FP notice. Maybe 15% to 20 %. Somehow this number comes close to people getting stuck in name check , which also around 20-25%. I know that FP and NC are supposed to parallel process but our case seems to point that it may not be completely true.

I called last week on Wednesday and my FP was not scheduled until then. At least thats what the IO said. I just do not believe anything they say now.

TSC IOs just look up case and say that they will re-submit request but its upto the FP section to schedule , which god only know what it is. However I have read on this thread that someone called NSC and NSC IO scheduled it for him right away and also gave him the date on the phone.

I sincerely hope that you are incorrect in terms of your theory of name check. I wish that we get our FP notices on time so that we can be queued for further processing...

I just fininshed my FP and i got a match warning for almost all my fingers. I dont remember giving all finger prints to USCIS at any point of time. At the maximum, I would have given index and thumb finger prints earlier when I travelled. Does this mean I am in trouble!!

Just another update from my side.. I got my fingerprinting done by walking-in today at my ASC.. It was very easy, and they were very co-operative as everyone on this board had been saying. I went as early as possible, arnd 7:50 am, and the office was open, and they took us in. I told that I have to travel and that was it.. I think that since their office had just opened and they didnt have many people there to take in, they took us in. Now I am leaving for India next week! If you had to call can you tell me which number to call. All my receipts, EAD and appointment were received from TSC and the ASC field office is in Tampa, FL. If you did not call, then can you tell me you just went there in the morning and got the FP done. Any inputs appreciated.

My finger printing was done on 09/19/2007 but I do not see any change in LUD for my I-485 application. My last I-485 update doesn't even show that they mailed my FP notice. All it says that my application was received on 08/29/2007. I'm a July 2nd filer.

I asked if I can open a service request. I was told that it cannot be done.... for Service Request I have to speak to an IO at customer service number...

I used the same number other people used and got a service request then finally FP notice...

Yesterday we received FP notices for me and my spouse . We got two separate notices with exact same info for each of us i,e we got total of 4 in mail. Also we did not get FP notice for our kid.

I dont think it should be a problem since you are going on the same day.. keep a proper excuse as your back-up, in case they ask. I walked-in successfully 20 days before the appointment date since I had a valid reason, and since at the time I went (i.e, 10 mins prior to their office opening time), their were hardly any people waiting. Though there is no gaurantee, it was definitely worth a try.

I am also in the same situation. I need to travel on 8th nov and my Appointment is on 17thNov. I cannot wait for that long as I have already got dates cleared from office. Can you tell me if I need to carry any proof (or iterinary is okay) to tell them I am travelling.

Even my ND is sept 10 from TSC. I think TSC is processing very slow w.r.t other service centers. I have feeling even SR would be delayed.

My lawyer says USCIS is very inconsistent with sending FP. Some of their clients receive it immediately while others wait several months. Looks like we are from several months category.

Passport carries info such as dob, m/f name in addition to photo. Donot bother about photo as it can not be latest. Once you reach ASC- you will be asked to fill out a form which will require personal info: like name, dob, RN#, A#, ht/wt color of eyes/hair etc and photo/address becomes secondary for identity purposes.

From what I can figure out from other posts, people with Sept 10 and Aug 27 notice dates from TSC are the people still waiting for their FP. Seems like FP request to be sent to local ASC has got lost somewhere in the pipeline of FP scheduling process for these two dates.

I think there is something messed up with our FP scheduling. Otherwise we should have received it by now.

Nah man..no FP yet..I had called USCIS yesterday and Customer Service Representative tried to open a SR for me and she told me that since I already have a SR for my case and she can't open new one for another 60 days (from the date of the first SR). She asked to wait and told me i should get it pretty soon. By the way my AP got approved on 11/01.

Same thing happened for me. I saw lud when I returned home after from FP and yet another lud a day-after FP.

I guess your 485 is also at TSC , correct? You mention about rescheduling . Does this mean that you already know the date of your appointment and just waiting for the FP notice?

I opened a SR 1 month after I got my RN they said wait 45 days I waited 2 weeks and called the IO using the phone sequence on pg 69 of this thread then the IO told me she will put in a request I thod her I want to finish my FP before Nov 10 she said okay I will put in a note but will depend on your ASC availability... in a week I got my FP notices for Nov 2 but I walked in on Oct 26 and finished it... I got an email couple days back about the SR I had opened and they said they have closed it as the FP is done... use the phone sequence on "pg 69" and complain to the IO...

From my experience, if you are calling NSC/CSC using the sequence mentioned on pg 69 then you maybe lucky. NSC/CSC IOs are much better in responding to FP inquiry requests than TSC. I have called TSC and spoke to an IO so many times , opened an SR, its over 35 days since opening SR and nothiing yet.

The sequence is not useful for TSC.

Rcpt date is again Sep 10 again ! There is something going on Sep 10 !!

I had opened an SR two months back. They replied saying that they are waiting for the Background check. How is it possible ? How can they do Background check without FP ??

Today, I sent a letter to my local senator to look into this issue. They will check with TX center and get back to tme! what a pain ??

I see several NSC->CSC->NSC Xfr cases get their FPs. however I am not sure this means all will get FP notices soon, since some of these people are in less crowded states/FP centers. For instance, a Xfr case applicant in bay area CA may not get FP, but Xfr case applicent in less crowded state like Arizona might get it faster.

Just a thought...don't think it's 100% apple-to-apple comparison and if some Xfr case gets FP, everyone should be getting soon.
