hi, EB3retro,
My understanding is: NO finger-printing is required if the child is under 14 years. The filing fees for minors is 225 and does not include fee for biometrics. Please, clarify on this

I am really not sure about the filing fees. I remember paying fees for the child too, but what i am very sure is , even for the children (atleast for child age 7) FP is required, cos, we got it done for our child last month , that much i can clarify.

My Attorney filed AOS for my spouse, myself and our daughters (aged 16 and 13) with filing fees of $395 each. Later on, he realised the AOS filed for 13 year WILL be rejected for improper filing fees (as the correct fee is 225 and we sent 395 and he has to re-file with correct fees, thank God PD was still current). As expected her AOS got rejected and we got RN/FP notices for all other but for her aos. I am yet to get r/n for her re-filed aos.

but the concern is: do the minors under 14 need FP. My undertanding is NO as we did not file 325 and required fee.

answer is yes, cos, we got it done for my child. i think there is a small difference for the children that, they dont take finger prints of all the fingers, i think just the index finger.

So, do we expect to get FP notice for 13 year old (without filing 325 or Biometric fees). We are going for FP on 9/19. Can she show up with us without notice. please let me know.

you are wc. he can show up, bt the deal is he cannot get FP'ed, cos, anyone who needs to get FP'd in the family need that letter from USCIS. So, let say you have 2 children for whom you have applied for AOS, you need to have 4 of those letters 2 for you and your spouse and 2 for those children.

I have two kids, my son is 8 years and daughter is 5 years old. Since it clearly says in 485 form that FP is not required for kids below 14, we didn't pay for FP fee of kids and attorney confirmed it then. We got FP notices for me and my wife on Aug 1st and we completed it. Later on after a week we received FP notices for my son and daughter for Aug 23rd even though we didn't send the FP $ for them. We just went and completed the FP for kids on Aug 23rd :)
I know one of my friend who sent FP money for his kids along with 485 application even though they were below 14 and he did get FP notice for them and they all got GC approved now. He was a March filer.

I have a minor child who received FP (Code 3) before all our GC got approved. [4 months before approval]. Neither I nor my attorney paid any fees for my kid.
I think they request FP for the kid before approving their GC. In some cases, I also found that GC approved for people already did FP, but not for the kids and took some time for the USCIS to issue FP notices before approving their GC.
Thanks

I think there is no general rule for minors. Whereas, many in these forums got FP notices for minor kids, when I talked with IO today for my minor daughter, I was told not all minors need biometrics/fp. What does it mean? My attorney also say so. I donot know whom to believe. Any thoughts?

Hi All:
Yes I got finger print notification for my son. He is 6 years old. I didnt pay any FP fees. But I got the notification. For me & wife it is on 10/19/2007 and for my son, it is 10/23/2007. Looks like FP is required for Kids also with free of charge.

We recently did our biometrics. For adults they do "all fingers" + a photograph.
For our kids, they did the index finger + photo. We had not paid Biometrics fees for our kids, but we did receive appointment letters for them.
BTW, my son hates the camera etc, so he was crying like hell. They were about to **waive** his finger printing, whatever that means!

Minors do get a FP/Biometric request and all they do is take a picture if the minor is old enough to give a fingerprint then they take it otherwise just the picture..

My son is 11 years old, we did not pay finger print fee.
Yesterday we have recived ASC appointment notice, which says code 2.

I had sent a check to INS for FP of my daughter (10 Years old). They have returned the check with a note that this fee is not required.
I have not yet received FP notice for anyone of my family.

Kids (< 14 years) are required to go through finger printing without paying any fees. That was the answer from lawyer. We did not pay any fees for kids finerprinting and ofcourse we have got FP notices for them as well.

Whom did yo pay? To USCIS directly or to your lawyer? USCIS would not take as for <14 there is no fee. If your lawyer took money, he already eat it up:). Yes you may have FP for child < 14 but without any payment.
