H1B to green card thru employment

I have been in the country since 2003 on J1, F1, and now H1B visa. My H1B status started on Oct 1, 2009. How long is it wise to wait before I start the process for green card thru employment?

If you start now,it may take ten years to get GC or may be 15 years (EB3).
