Hi guys,

I am starting the Thread for the update for the Name check.


I have my details given below, I Went for InfoPass last week,The officer told my spouse cleared the Name Check , mine is pending.

I filed I-485 on July'5th'2007.

Name Check was intiated on Sept'17'2007. Since i am july Filler, i might wait for another 1 more months , so that it will be 2 months to worry about name check stuck or not. I didn't get my FP notice yet.

Guru's what do you think, Shall i have to concerned. One of the person (mallu) told in this forum ,if USCIS does name check can be cleared with in 2 months.(Does name check can be cleared in 2-6 months time for 80% people?)

My wife seems to be cleared in 2 weeks time.

Name check pending more than 6 months is a not a good sign.
This is the pattern. Usually the ladies get cleared fast ( there are exceptions ),
but usually they will be derivatives. The chances of males getting caught
in name check is higher. The probability also increases if your name is popular.

I dont think it has to do with anything regarding Male or female being caught more or less but since more crimes are commited by male more hits are generated against male names and as a result more males gets stuck in name check then females do. I also think if there was female who had the same name (in indian culture there are many names that are used by both genders such as Kirti) then she would equally be stucked. Does any one know regarding the section posted in "IV and FBI name checks" it says IV met some senior officials in mid october and had been informed about some plans being undertaken and should reflect the results in six weeks. What dept were the officials from such as lawmakers or FBI officials or USCIS officials?

How to findout my name is on NAME CHECK PROCESS.. does anyone have Idea? I am July 2nd filer, case is on TSC, got EAD, FP done.

I called 304-625-5590 option(3) and gave my A#, officer told me that FP results were sent back to USCIS on Oct-29-07 (after 3 hours of my FP done) and I got LUD too on my 485.

No, the information she gave you was regarding the finger print check and name check is completely different from that. Even though they both done by FBI. Only way you can find out if your name check is cleared is by speaking to IIO(Immigration Information Officer) by calling 1 800 375 5283 and then selecting 1 2 2 1 1 0 and then be persistent about speaking to IIO and then most of them will tell you if your name check is cleared if one does not tell you hang up and try again.

I confirmed with customer service, as well as via INFOPASS. The IO at INFOPASS mentioned that the things are beyond their control.

I agree that there seems to be a trend that spouse gets cleared fast and first. I filed my I-485 last october, and my PD is current but waiting for NC to be cleared.

Yes, I saw couple of LUDs early this week.

I have couple of Traffic Tickets mostly regarding Excess Speeding.Paid Fines and on one instance Got Points issued to the Driver's License inspite of going to court to Challenge the ticket.Since abt 53% Approx. according to USCIS Ombudsman Report are getting stuck in Name check problem, Wondering if even Traffic offenses,court records on Traffic Tickets are getting FBI's Attention ?? Getting really jittery on this NC stuff .What think guys?

One of my friends got the GC approved for both the primary applicant and the spouse. They had applied for 485 in July 07. The primary applicant is EB2 India with PD July or Aug 2003...So, it appears that they are approving cases with PD July/Aug 2003 for EB2 (assuming Name Check is cleared).

:) FBI FP clearance happens in 24-48 business hours of FP(This is not NC)
:mad: FBI NC process start after 1-2 weeks of I-485 Notice Date (ND) and can take 72 hours to few years.

Stats for NC (approx): 64%-80% in 2 weeks, 19%-25% in 6 months, 1% in few years.(Source Ombudsman report)

Help in way. So Good Luck for stuck people.

Satish: Don't take it the wrong way....but let's say ppl here tell u that u shd be concerned? How does that change things for you--your NC is going to take as long as it takes. I've seen some of your posts and seems to me that you worry a lot. Look what you started this time.....another thread that adds more panic---now everyone wants to call USCIS and figure out if NC is complete.

buddy---take it easy on yourself---sometimes ignorance is bliss. You might consider not calling the IOs for a while and let things go the way they are supposed to. Your worrying about NC/FP and the panic you created about I-485s Xfr'd to CSC isn't helping you or anyone else.

I red some where in the forum, that infopass is the perfect, some time IO or SR may not give right info.

If you book infopass , you will get appoinment on local Homeland Sec. office.

I did speak to IO just now and she said once we generate a notice for you, the request for FBI clearance is fwdd to FBI dept. Usually they get back in 60-90 days.. so she asked me not to panic since mine (name check) was started on Oct 17.

This sequence was given by bunnuboy and have been made popular on this forum by Me... the sequence works for NSC or TSC depending on the (src or lin ) number, if you notice the last line above I have written "reditect to NSC" cause my application is in NSC...

As fr the rest it takes 6 mos to determine if name check is done from the Receipt Date...

I noticed a LUD of 11/11/2007(Sunday) on my 140 case status! My 140 was approved long time back, July 2006. In August when I checked with an IO at infopass appointment she said that my NC is pending.

USCIS don't work on Sunday. LUDs in 140 doen't mean anything. So relax. :D

If you are holding for more than 10 mins that means you are getting into IO. CS are fast to pick the call but they are all dump. Just they will read whatever is in website.

USCIS don't work on Sunday. LUDs in 140 doen't mean anything. So relax. :D

Not completly true. I got both my EAD and 140 approval LUDs on Sunday. While the USCIS doesnt work on Sunday (and most other days) the computerized system can update your status on weekend if the manual processing is over and it is queued up in CRIS.

Can you please tell me the sequence of key on the phone which need to be used in order to get to an IO?

It's not guaranteed that your call will get transfered to an IO. I had tried a couple of times before, and I got transfered to a regular Customer Service Rep, which does not help as they don't have the same system access as IOs do. Try calling in the morning, as opposed to the afternoon.

I just spoke to the IO and she says that right now they are processing Applications received on Apr 14th 2007 in NSC. Unless this Date reached the day u filed ur application the IO wont even look at ur file and ur FBI- NC wont be initiated. She suggested that watch this date to become current ( not ur PD but processing date linky --> https://egov.uscis.gov/cris/jsps/Processtimes.jsp?SeviceCenter=NSC ) and after that call the service center with the above sequence.

that is what she told me. as some one said earlier in teh post don’t worry abt this too much. If you have a + ve feedback just don’t read too much into it and different replies people post.

It would really really help if people who are mentioning that their FBI name check has cleared give us 2 critical pieces of data

1) When the applied for the I-485 or how long they have waited
AND
2) Their Country of Birth.

Optionally if they can reveal their Gender, that would help clear out the confusion coz we all know that processing is slower for males than females.

A lot of times if you are from a country that has a smaller population, you are going to get ur namecheck done much quicker.

We filed our i-140/485/EAD/AP concurrently on 2nd july 2007.We recieved our EADs and APs in oct 2007.Fp done in sep.140 and 485 are pending.No luds so far.When i called uscis and spoke to different I/Os on different days,every I/O whom i spoke with told me that both primary and derivative's security checks are cleared.I asked them clearly,if any other checks are pending.The replied,security check cleared means,it includes all checks like name check,background check etc.So everything is cleared.And they told me bcoz 140 is pending,we cannot proceed further in our 485 case.Only when someone looks at yout 140 case and approve it,your case will move further.

my pd is 2006 and filed i-485 on august 13th......from india eb3.....called tsc and was told that name check is clear and asked what is the next step....she said nothing more you have to wait in line to be approved.....everything is done.....my spouse's is also done....going for an infopass tomorrow at 10:30...will let you know the updates

Now you have update about you case good for you….one thing I don’t understand why you want to go for Info Pass. From you case look like every thing is line ….I show in this form all are worried application and they are just wasting resources …there are no batter thing to do rater all the time checking status of you application ….you will get your approval ones your time come .you do not have to cheek status and call every day ….I understand this is very important to over lives and family but it want change if you call and cheek every day . Though just give my input

If your NC is cleared did you get any LUD(soft luds) on your case?

actually we got one more appointment scheduled for monday code 3 biometrics although we have already already done that on nov 21st....so got to ask whether we have to attend that and thought of verifying these...i have read somewhere in the forum don't believe ios on the phone better to check with infopass...anyway it doesn't hurt to visit once.........i know i have a long journey ahead....sign....i lost hope on gc actually.....

This is such a bitter day. I found out that my name check cleared on Nov 5, 2007. My PD was current that day and the rest of November 2007, but my file did not get assigned to an adjudicator....and now the cutoff date is Jan 2000, almost back to the place it was in October 2005 (the cutoff for EB-2 India was Nov 1999 back then). AAAAAAaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaargh! Esp since I know that people with PDs years later than mine got their GCs in November.

Btw, there were no LUDs the day my name check cleared -- the one on 11/14/07 was cos my attorney changed.

I found out today that my NC is cleared in one of the fastest possible times..or the customer representative says so..it seems Nc was filed on
Nov 1st and cleared by Nov 11th.


I filed my I-140/485 concurrently on june 29th and RD is july 5th. I don't have any LUDs on USCIS website.

p.s: I tried to use the regular procedure to reach customer service rep but it kept saying I didn't enter correct number of digits for the reciept number. I hung up once and tried again and it kept saying the same thing again but out of blue I got connected to a rep and she didn't know anything about NC as she doesn't have access to that info . I asked her that some of the people actually got the status via phone then she said she will connect to the person who has access to it..weird..

All person are not same.. Some might be rude and some are good.

I dailed firsttime, officer told all it's within normal processing time, she can not tell me status. I hung off politely and redialed again. I got in line with a good officer. She was kind and told both namecheck and fingure prints are cleared. Someone will be working on my case in this month. Not sure if that is going to happen.

Waste of time. I called the TSC and a nasty women refused to give information and advised me not to call every hour, day, week. This was my first call. Apparently, people must be bothering her every day. A wise advice to people whose name got cleared is not to call again and again!

I called TSC twice and both times the person was very polite (I was calling about receipt numbers), tried to search my case, tried to explain me things (although I knew everything they said), etc. There are rude people everywhere, last time the airport worker was rude and made me walk twice through the security check. Just call again, and again. And don't feel guilt for calling every hour. We paid fees, we expect SERVICE, we are COSTUMERS. Even if you call every hour, the woman on the other side is getting paid to answer the phone every hour, and tell things every hour.
