Hi All,

Disapointed with the Dec bulletin, I would like to know at what stage USCIS will assign a visa number to the applicant?

Do they allocate the visa number if I140 and 485 are pending ? Or only after
I-140 is approved, name check and background check are completed ?

I applied in for 140 in July 2007 with pd of 2004 EB2 and in Aug 07 I applied
485.

Thanks

Rajesh

Hello IV gurus
I need your help, I am on H4 and my wife on H1 EB2 India (07), we got our I40 cleared. Can i on a H4 apply for EAD ? our PD date is not current and we were not able to apply for 485 this past july. The way PD date is going , I am little nervous. Someone told me H4 cannot apply for EAD until PD is current.

it is hard to believe this country is so ignorant, all they want to do is fight wars!
Sad, this country is no longer a land of opportunity.

Q When is a visa number allocated ?
A When your I485 is processed+ NC is cleared+your PD is current+your case file is picked up from a huge pile of cases that are current+ an Immigration officer is assigned to give you a visa number+ there is a visa number available

the fact of the matter is that a visa number in reality will be issued, after you renew your EADs 3-6 times.

With the current fees ($1k per person per year) and the retrogression, you are looking at 5-10K in expenses before you see a visa number allocated.

I pray that IV is successful in eradicating the root cause of our agony - Retrogression.
