Hello all,
I am planning to post following message in comments section of all Immigration related news/articles. Please provide your comments.
Thank you.

----------*********************----------------
To all the individuals who are unaware of the situation of ‘LEGAL’ immigrants.
Here is my story:
I am a ‘LEGAL’ (YES ‘LEGAL’), law abiding, taxpaying immigrant residing in the US. I did my Masters from one of the best schools in the US and currently I am working for a reputed company with a salary of more than 100K/year. My company has started my green card application three years ago. Because of numerical caps, per country limits, processing delays on employment-based green cards, it may take anywhere between 10 to 15 years to approve my green card application. During this time if I change my job, I will have to restart my green card application process all over again. Because of this uncertainty, I am unable to purchase a house; I cannot start a business and I cannot do any kinds of major investments in the US.
I urge all the authorities to consider our situation and provide us some relief with the never ending green card backlogs. Just to let you know, there are about half a million applicants in similar situation.

You are misrepresenting facts in your comments. As a LEGAL immigrant, you can always invest and there are number of investment vechicles. You are not choosing to do so due to the risks involve. There are many LEGAL immigrants who wisely invest and make money since they are ready to take more risk than you.

Moreover, IMHO, I do not see any value in you posting your comments in any website.

Please note that Legal Immigrants on H1B can purchase a house and invest in other areas.

What is the purpose of posting this comment on articles you find on the internet?
A better option would be to write to your Senators/Congressmen..or even better, meet them in person and keep them apprised of the situation. This was the consistent message from all members who attended the Advocacy events on Capitol Hill and shared their experiences. The Senators and their offices might provide the same standard/sympathetic answers but its still worth it to get a consistent message across. IV Core/State chapters can provide materials to convey the right message to the right people.

Good point. I will not mention my salary.

Guys, I never stated any misrepresenting facts and I never mentioned that one cannot buy a house being on H1. All I said was, because of uncertainty in getting a green card; I am UNABLE to purchase a house or make significant investments…
Any ways, I will change the word ‘unable’ to ‘hesitant’, which I think makes more sense.

Coming to why I am posting the comments in news/articles: read this (4th paragraph)
http://immigrationvoice.org/forum/forum89-news-articles-and-reports/25094-from-prof-vivek-wadhwa-in-his-own-words.html#post335012

I hope you know who Vivek Wadwa is….

And yes, I did participate in telephone campaigns and I did write few letters to my senators and congressmen about the issue.

Thanks for your suggestions.
