My priority date is March 2 2006 in Eb2 category. My EAD is expiring in november 2010 and I have everything ready to apply for my EAD renewal this week (prior to 3 months of expiry). Now that my date is current, should i wait until next month or can i go ahead and apply for the renewal?

Same case was with me. My EAD is valid till oct 2010. i had the same que some day back. as someone suggested, i should not take risk as i am in EAD. then I applied for EAD on aug 2nd. they checked my cash on 9th and on 10th i got email regarding CPO. Was just telling you my experience. But if you are working in EAD, you should not take risk and apply for EAD renewal. But in my wifes case i din't apply for renewal as she is not working. though i loose $340, still i saved $340. :)

chances are that dates might retrogress when oct comes. you will be safer with an EAD. But if you want, you can wait another month or so prior to applying. I got my EAD in 5 weeks, so that might give you an idea of what to expect.

I donot think those 'current' can afford to take a chance. Remember, unless done it is never done...

My EAD got renewed in 5-weeks (with a validity of 2-yrs starting from 9/27/10) and shortly after ead, my GC got approved:D

I may NOT ever use/look at ead now but I am glad I got both EAD and GC :D But, I purchased some peace for a little price.....:D but that was my experience, now the choice is yours.

Good luck. ...

I am also thinking the same. I will apply for EAD renewal this week itself.

AFAIK, if your date is current at the time of EAD approval, they will only issue 1-yr EAD (if they issue EAD at all...). I would suggest that first talk to your HR people and ask if they would allow you to work if EAD renewal is pending or not. The reason I say this is because NSC is currently delaying EAD renewals because of end of year rush to approve 485s. Come October, their workload should reduce and approvals should be faster. In that case, you could wait until mid Sept to apply if you do not get your GC by then.

And if HR allows you to work on EAD renewal receipt then you have less risk even if EAD approval goes beyond your current expiration date.
