Hi

I am a July fiasco 485 filer. Pre july 30th. So i have to pay fees for EAD/AP eac time. However i am confused about fees for 131.

Do we need biometric fee or not? I filed my application at phoenix lock box per instruction - with $385. But later when i read instruction it feels like we do not need biometric.

Can any recent AP filers please clarify

Thanks

I filed I-131 for my daughter on 9/3/10 online & paid only $305. I got the web confirmation receipt & also an update on the case saying that they have mailed me the receipt notice.
We have filed our 485's in the same time frame as yours & went for finger printing in last quarter of 2007.
I believe if you already have finger printing done you do not require biometric fee since you have already paid it for the first finger printing, unless USCIS issues RFE for it.
I am waiting to see what happens in my daughter's case

Actually you donot need biometrics fee. if they need it they will ask you in a seperate appointment.
In my case, when they rejected my AP ( after 1month ) stating
1) no signature ( my error , result of over caution )
2) no appropriate fee ( their error, i sent them proper fee of $305, and got confirmation from their National service center .)

But when i have resent the corrected application, i have enclosed 2 cheques , one for $305 , the other blank , and a cover letter explaining , the my AP is based on 485 and the fees is $305, if the officer feels its a different fee , please use the other blank cheque.
They used the $305 and sent back my blank cheque.

I sent 305 for AP for me and my wife each. Checks are cached today. So 305 is correct.
And yes, no need for Biometric.

$305 is the correct fee for I-131 in AOS category... My checks gor cashed and i received the receipt notice within 7 days.... Now starts the wait :)

Do you have any travel plans during Nov / Dec. I do. Its been a week since I applied. Not sure if I get it by then. I booked the tickets too :D

You start to wait..I start to wait AND worry :D

Does the AP take as long as the EAD these days?
I have to travel in Dec and my AP is set to expire in Nov. I applied last week of Aug.

I E-filed on 9/3/10 & sent the following

1. Web Confirmation Receipt
2. Driver's Lic copy,
3. EAD Copy
4. Passport Biometric page
5. I 485 copy
6. I 140 copy
7. Two recent photos (Although the receipt says do no send I have sent them. I did that too when I applied for EAD. Did not get any RFE for EAD)

In the covering letter I mentioned that the travel document is against the pending I-485 & I intend to travel multiple times.
Hope this helps

called uscis to confirm the right fees.

the lady office said "its upto the discretion of the immigration office to order for biometrics or not. Please always send 2 cheques one for $305 and other for $80. they will use which they need and send the other one back"

This whole process is confusing and frustrating.
