Advance Parole - Poll

Hi,

I am seeing a lot of horror stories as to it takes more than 90 days to get Advance Parole.
Is it true for pretty much everyone or is it happening to a unfortunate few .

I am anxious because we need to go to India for BIL's marriage in the first week of Feb. Applied exactly 90 days before this date. Now, not even sure if we need to go ahead and book the tickets.

Please vote if you have applied for AP in the last 6 months.

for Texas center what i have seen it that if you use fedex etc the address is different and ultimately its forwarded to lockbox address which in my case took almost a month. and check was encashed after a month.
my lawyer used fedex for my EAD.
i filed my AP myself and used USPS with delivery confirmation. since it was delivery confirmation mailman dropped a notice at about 9am and mail was picked up at about noon same day. and check was encashed 2 days later. i havent received receipts yet(its only 3 days since checks were encashed)
will keep you posted as my case proceeds.

Applied my AP (new application, I haven't applied for my AP before) on August 30th 2010 and got the approval email Nov 10th and Nov 17th got the actual AP document in mail.
In between I opened an SR on Oct 18th for not receiving any Finger Print notice. Hope this information helps.

Applied in Apr/24 for both EAD and AP. Received EAD but still waiting for AP. Opened a SR 2 weeks ago. At this point I am not in a hurry so not worried.

The validity period on my AP is Oct 6, 2010 and I was paroled until July 10 2011 when I returned to US this July 11, 2010 using AP.

Question: Can I travel outside the country with this AP since I’m paroled until July 2011 or should I renew because the validity of AP is until Oct 6, 2010?

Please advice.

I don't think you can use it. In the top of the AP document, it will be mentioned that your AP is valid till Oct 6 2010.

When they put a seal that you are paroled till July 11, 2010, it is just a date 1 year from your entry into US. I don't think it means anything.

Filed paper based applications for my self, wife and daughter. This is the third time I have applied for AP. I got them in a months time previously. Sent applications on Aug 20. Recipts received with a date of Aug 24. No further status update. On the website the status is stuck at 'Initial Review' stage for more than 2 months. Had applied to Dallas lockbox based on application instructions. No idea about how to initiate an enquiry?

still took more than 90 days with an RFE to submit new passport style pictures.
cheap by avoiding lawyer fees, instant credit card payment (no checking of clearance), takes less than 15 minutes and use USPS certified email.
worked wonders for online EAD too. approval came within 80 days.
