Guys,
After 13 years, 4 GC applications, 2 I-140 apps, numerous H1-B/F-1 apps and yet to file for I-485, I'm feeling like giving up. I don't think I have another year's worth of wait in me.( EB2I,06/2007)

Oh, did I mention I had to go work outside US once, because my company paralegal screwed up?

Take a deep breath first. Think and then act. Don't let frustration get better off you.

What could I say?
Any more penny charged from you for immigration purpose is not fair.
Any more second that you are made to stand in a queue for immigration purpose is not fair.
I wish all the best of best come to you as soon as possible.

You are already won. You went through 13 years - two recessions. One of them is greatest of all time. Nothing can beat you man cheer up.
You are almost there(Jun 07). What do you have to lose if you continue. If you have to leave because of immigration then you can leave with smile. In the meanwhile if you can participate in 485 initiative that will give something back to community...:)
PS:
I understand your frustration as I am frustrated with just one application and almost 10 years in this country. My mistake as I did not apply earlier.

I would suggest not to give up. In the neighborhood where I live, most of them are Indians, and most of them are on EAD including me. Everyone have switched jobs many times, used Advance Parole to travel outside U.S and have purchased home. You can do the EAD or AP Renewal online. It is like 50% of Green card. Forget GC and enjoy your life. BTW, I am EB3 India 2004, and don't have any hope for another 5 years

Dude,
There are many out here, once we were bachelors, then married, then became parents.
Soon many of us will become grand fathers and great grand fathers. So what?

Give up only when you are 102.
Theres is sort of a theoretical wait time limit of around 25 years or so, when us born children can apply for their parents !!! 102 is a bit too far fetched. But most of the professional life will be gone in this wait.

I can understand your frustration .. I feel really really bad when I see ppl are getting GC literally in 6 months via EB1 route. Recently, I came to know that one of my friend's fried got GC in 6 months under the EB1 category. One of the largest Indian outsourcing companies applied his GC. He is just a onsite manager. I just cant digest this .. EB1 system is being highly abused by these so called multinational companies ...

Consider the below two situations.
1.Person 'A' who has been working here in this country for >10 yrs, is extremely smart, has a good resume and has room to grow and better himself and family.
2.Person 'B" who is the average guy next door, has Master's came here to better his life, got stuck in the rats race and immigration backlog.
If you are person A, then go for it. You will be successful no matter where you are.
If you are person B, then i am afraid that you may have to wait and stick this one out. That does not mean you will not be successful if you decide you want to relocate, but 13 yrs is a long time you have invested and if you go back with a green card your options are so much better.
Just another 2 cents from another person B.

You are so close , just hang on in there, you are EB2 India and we have seen this trend of spillovers every year. I got Greened in September, I was not expecting it would happen this year, I was prepared to wait - I moved jobs on EAD, moved to different cities and also used AP and never really felt like I did not have a GC except for the fact that I always wanted to be on my own and now it is very much possible to do something on my own.
Your multiple H1b and GC experience and other issues you have faced only helps you. Believe me - your perspective is totally different from those who have no clue what the system is and basically do not make any attempts to understand or fix things. I think you can do a lot better in life compared to those who would not know the value of things when they get something without effort.
Hang in there and take it easy. Contribute to IV efforts and also try to discuss and spread the efforts by organizations like IV in the community.

I am a US citizen of Indian origin and moved 13 years ago. I still go thru the duvidha (Sanskrit for dilemma) that should I continue my job here with Furtune 25 company or should I move to my home country and pick high paying job. There is no good answer here, but I decide to go back and it turns out lemon for me, I have the option of coming back. This is a key factor.
I would urge you to consider the option of waiting for the green card. With your PD and EB-2 the wait is closer than you might think.
I wish you best of luck.

Apply for jobs, give interviews, get an offer and weigh in the pros and cons after you get an offer (money, city etc). No harm in looking around. Consider Singapore and Australia, nice places to live and work.

Leo dude,
I was similarly frustrated as you after 9 yrs , 2 GC Labor (someone stole earlier of those 2 during labor sub days) ,1 I-140 and 3-4 H transfer and I left the country in May 2009. However , I came back (read ran back) after 10-11 months - not that things turned booming and beautiful here in 10months but its way better than there.
Trust me , the folks who paint rosy pictures of back home are absolute liars. Its true that some infrastructure development is happening , middle class wages have gone up, handfew jobs are created for poor but its WAY to GO there... plus the highlevel direction and attitude is very wrong - no one focusing on BULK amount of poor peoples living in inhuman condition , earning substantially low wage(or no wage) - Unless u lift everyone up [poor, middle , rich] changing from developing to developed will be just a dream there.
If you want to go and see it after 13 years - you are free to do. My true friends also warned me when I was leaving in May 2009 but I wanted to get a lesson by physically seeing it , not listening to good advises - stupid me.
Hope this helps - PM me if u want to talk more.

If you have EB3 I-140 approved try porting up to a better EB2 job - that 5-10 yrs could crush down to 1-2 yrs if you start job searching now. You are Current and eligible for EB2.
I'm EB3 India 2005 so i'm stuck for at least another 15 yrs , however I found new EB2 higher job ( because my exp is 12yrs now after BS) and working on new Labor process.
Give me a little more time and wish me luck - Losing 1 battle doesnt mean losing the war. WE WILL GET THERE !!

Leo,
I hope you will make the right decision for you and your family. Given that you've spent so much time, consider staying here. Lots of advantages once you get EAD and GC. I too am in a similar situation as you, but have not considered moving back so far yet. I came here in 1999 for Master's. Applied for labor in 2003 (EB3).Then moved to a new job in 2006. Had to reapply. Applied it under EB2 in July 2007 and have been waiting to file EAD. In the meantime, I started pursuing a second Master's degree in Fall 2008 (tuition paid by my employer). I'm now graduating on Saturday. There were times when I felt like quitting. But, I kept pushing it and now I've a 4.0 GPA (not that I'm bragging). As they say, patience is a virtue. I know you'll wait this out too.
Thanks.

Leo,
Didn't u leave your old job after I-140 approval ? Then you can utilize/port that in your 2007Labor application. I'm sure you know it.
I'm not as qualified as you - I mean i'm just a BS, but seeing you guys suffer with 2 M.S degree really makes me sad about the system. There is no sense in the system if it cant retain some one as qualified as you ... Priority Date should be the locked when some one files a Labor App for the first time , not after Labor is approved or not after Labor+I-140 is approved. This is ridiculuous!

Diptam,
I agree, the system is somewhat antiquated and they didn't seem to account for all use cases. When I applied for my first EB3 labor, it used to be called RIR and it was stuck in their national processing center until September 2006. I waited and waited for it. Finally, I had to make the call whether to keep on waiting or move on. I was going nowhere in my career and wasn't too happy with my pay. So, I decided to move on and found a new job. After I moved, my old labor was approved 3 months later. It was too late by that time because I had already moved on. Because, I had already moved on, I didn't feel right to back to the old job just for GC. So, I let it go. Long story short, you cannot port PD from your labor. That just gets me.
Thanks,
Leo,

diptam, my first 140 approval was in 2008 June. Labors were filed in 2001,2002,2005 & 2007. 140s in 2008 & 2010. First two were from a startup company that had to change name and then went bankrupt before my Labor was through. Labor used to take much longer then. IMHO, B.s or M.S or MBA doen't mean much, it's just the exposure and experience that matters really. Since, we all are stuck to our "Job descriptions", we don't have the luxury of doing multiple things in a business org to gain the same experience.
