History channel premiered a program "Naturalized" yesterday (12/18). They covered people from so man y different walks of life facing so many different problems to get GC and citizenship. But in the 90 minute program there was no coverage on how our community is struggling and no mention about the plight of the employment based category.

Makes me wonder if there is enough awareness about our cause.

Contact the History channel and ask the same question.

If we are not ready to speak up and say we have a problem to the people that matter (lawmakers, media) - why would they assume a problem exists?

Everyone knows about Illegal immigration - no one knows about legal immigration.

We need to have a working group to generate awareness @ grassroot levels about legal EB immigrations - common voters, media, people working around you.
Working with lawmakers is ok but they don't get asked by their voters to support legal EB immigration first before illegal immigration. Hence lawmakers never feel pressure to support legal EB immigration.
We need to try to go to wider audience instead of targetted audience (lawmakers) - which has been IVs approach for long time.

People need to know us more than indian 'software' techies. They need to understand how we got there, how we contribute to society, maintain status & maintain job without years.

We need to look for support among all people who values skilled workforce...

(I hope IV admins won't kill this thread as they don't like their criticism - like $2 thread- )...

This is a good idea.
How about you take your idea further and start this group. I am sure many folks who agree with you will join you. What do you think?

Never saw how fire looks like....these sparks now and then sputter out of a fireplace of mounting frustation. Most sparks loose momentum because cold blowers are too many here.
Tierd of hopes! and frozen by these cold blowers! :o

Thank you.
What is the strategy and action items?

If you detail it out, more people can be interested. Do not ask us to send junk emails or sign some useless online petition though in your action item.

lol - never.
Just use available tools to educate people using simple terms. Using 6-degree rule we should be able to reach lots of people.
-- My first idea is to use facebook to run a campaign - prepare a literature - 8-10 point about EB based immigration & everyone post on their facebook page ..with an easy click (if they support) for readers to post on their walls : posting on wall == supporing it. then see how many people support us .. idea is to reach the masses....

thats it the initial plan...

goel_ar, Please join in the 485 filing initiative core group. Send a PM to snathan or nmdial. We have a couple of action items and can add this one too, a bigger pool of like minded people can collaborate together for common cause. Up to you to decide.
