AP question

entered using AP .they took a copy and returned the other copy of AP with parole stamp

i have question on parole stamp and i-94

whey they returned ,they gave us 1 year validity on i-94 and parole stamp

1.does that mean do i need to leave the country with in 1 year

how does this work? please advise
