YES, as long as your I-485 is pending

If you are actually using the EAD you cannot work in the interim though. Just an FYI
I have the same question. What is the process of renewing once its already expired? Should a new application be submit? Can we do it on our own without going through a lawyer?
Thank you

how will the uscis know that during the interim period my work is authorized and not mistake it saying the EAD is expired and does an RFE?

I did it myself without a problem. It's the same I-765 form, you just mail a filled-out form, a copy of your existing EAD (front and back), copy of I-485 receipt, 2 photos and a check.

will the lawyer get the renewed ead cards or since you applied for renewal you will receive the cards?

It's only you who will receive the card, not lawyer.
