Someone has given me 2 GRAY (yes not red or green but GRAY) dots. One question is "Why not 3 years?". Well I am not sure what that question means but I asked about the 2 year EAD coz the USCIS has announced about the 2 year EAD but no announcement as been made about 3 year EADs.

what is a gray dot? and how to decide the dot to be green, gray or red?

How do you find out that you have green/red/grey dots and how do you check for the comments left with them. BTW i don't know how important is this dot business in this forum.

it is as important as you wish to make it.
it has little practical significance other than alerting readers what opinions others have expressed about your posts. it does not change your status/privileges or anything else. it's just a part of this software.
sometimes you can get some reasonable feedback (red) or appreciation (green) to your posts. at other times it may be useless venting by someone or the other. btw- the number of "points" you add or subtract from a persons reputation when YOU leave a comment, depends on how many "points" YOU have. so...if you have a dozen greens, the effect is large. if you have a dozen reds its negligible. or at least that is my understanding. i think a gray means that the person who placed the comment did not have enough points to affect your reputation. go figure :-)

Thanks for the info. How do you check the comments people leave for you. Does it show up in your profile somewhere?

I usually click on the User Profile at the top right and then click on the 'User Control Panel' link. Reputations show up under 'Reputation Received' section. Not sure if there is another way to get to it. But don't worry too much about it. Last week, there was this (http://immigrationvoice.org/forum/showthread.php?p=256336) thread which had (still has) the word 'stucked' in the title and suggested to change it to stuck. Someone gave me red pointing out that my post had 'phonecalls' instead of 'phone calls'. Duh!!

zilmax, when did you apply for EAD and what service center

Looks like USCIS is speeding up processing to milk more money from us immigrants. And they will work on weekends to clear out as many EADS as possible.

That what one gets with a user funded agency....fees become a means to an end.

I received my EAD cards (within 17 days) couple of days ago. 1 year validity.

Got approved on June 24. Only strange part is that its valid from 06/24/2008 to 06/24/2009 and my existing EAD expires on 09/19/2008. I lost 3 months in the process. I always thought the validity of new EAD would begin the day after the current one expires. Anyway, I don't have to pay that fee next year and EAD renewal is simple. So, no worries!!

well I guess we just have to ignore them or if they become too rude and downright insulting we can complain to the moderators because they can see the offending users and take appropriate action.

Hi guys,

Just to recap.. I filed our AP/EAD's on May 30. We got our AP's 2 weeks ago. On june 26th, my wife's EAD was approved. I got it in mail yesterday. Her new EAD STARTS AFTER THE OLD ONE EXPIRES. But it is ONLY FOR ONE YEAR.

I just received my EAD approval- "Card production ordered" email this morning and the status said that it was done on June 30th. I now just have to wait to confirm that I got the 2 year EAD....

Hello EAD filers,

There is a thought (or misconception :) ) that when somebody files EAD renewal then IO looks into your I-140/I-485 records and that might trigger in I-140/I-485 movement if it was collecting dust. If you are too lucky then you might be denied EAD ;) as GC approval is on the way (provided your priority is also current)

Please share your experience to prove or disapprove this theory...

Guys,

My application was filed by Fragomen in Nebraska Service Center and was pending for a while.

Three things happened -

1. I was expecting it to get delayed more in true nebraska style and delay processing till July 1st... but no it processed on June 27 and I got the sad/relief mail saying card production was ordered.

2. I got a 1 YEAR EAD ( as expected for June 27th processing)

3. Its valid from 6/27/08 to 6/26/09 vs, what people have been saying that it will be valid from the expiration of last EAD which is valid till August some time...

I am relieved that I have the document so my wife can keep working without trouble but sad that I will be filing for an extension in Feb again...

Hope this helps

Fellows,
You have to explicitly mention First EAD expiration date in the cover letter and highlight it and request it to start the 2nd EAD a day after that. Otherwise sincere IO will give it correctly but contractors/less knowledgeable IO's will extend it from the date they are handling and approving the application.

I didn't receive my 2nd EAD by June 30th so i'm hoping 2 yr EAD now ( if its gets approved ) and also expecting from the last expiration date - because i highlighted as per some other IV friend's advise.

Will keep you posted - just thought of sharing it so that fellows who apply in future dont lose EAD validity days ( actually that's money) in this loop.

Regards!

What annoys me is the inconsistancy- some people have their new EAD's starting from the day they received approval and others have EAD start date after thier current one expires.

Can't USCIS follow1 standard practice!!

I dont want to whine.....I am glad I got the Ead early (in 15 days) rather than dealing with the stress of waiting...but this causes too much confusion.

Got the EAD "Card Production Ordered" mail on 27th June, last working day before the start of 2 year EAD issuance date ie. June 30th. Soft Lud on 29th and another one on 30th June as well. Today received the physical card (amazingly fast ha) and it is valid only for 1 year, lost valuable 3 months.

This is ridicules. My PD is Dec '06 - EB2 - India, with the current trend it might take 5+ years for me to get the GC, Am I not eligible for 2 year EAD? On hurried manner it got approved on 27th (that’s eminent from the number of approvals on June 27th) and also validity is not starting from the expiry of the old EAD.

Why we should get penalized for their inefficiency? Who asked them to have backlog for EAD renewals, that’s the reason why I applied for renewal 4 months in advance, otherwise I would have applied couple of weeks before the actual expiry date.

And, why is the inconsistency, why somebody is getting from the approval date and somebody from the previous EAD expiry date? Are we simply at their mercy? What a pathetic situation we are in, in this so called great country.

For sure, legal immigrants are taken for granted.

Our EAD's application were receipted on 6/11, per the Receipt Notice. Online status indicate approved on 7/1. Should receive the card later this week or early next week. Will know, if itz for 2 yrs or 1 yr. By next week, folks waiting for approval will have a fair idea, how long their EAD would be for. Also per the Q&A issued by USCIS, it is upto the IO's approving the EAD to make it valid for a yr or 2, depending in the State Dept. Visa Bulletin visa availability numbers. Based on VB, the all EB3 folks applying for EAD should get 2 yrs, EB2 depends on their PD.

Hi
I am posting the link for the EAD FAQ available from the USCIS. I still have not received my card but it says online that the approval notice was sent on June 30th....so not sure if its one year or 2 years and if its the actual card or just a notice.

Anyways here is the link.

http://www.uscis.gov/files/article/2...FAQ_061208.pdf

Please see the part regarding the validity period of the card and if you believe you got the wrong dates then what needs to be done.

If I am filing for a replacement EAD under 8 C.F.R., Section 274.a.12(c)(9), how long is the EAD valid?
If an individual requests to replace an EAD that has not expired, USCIS will issue a replacement EAD that is valid through the same date as the previously issued EAD. However, if the previous EAD has expired, USCIS will process the request for a renewal EAD and determine the appropriate validity period based on the Department of State Visa Bulletin and the applicant’s priority date. If USCIS determines that an applicant has filed multiple Forms I-765, the agency may deny the applications for the replacement or renewal EAD.

If I believe I have received an EAD with the wrong validity period or other incorrect information who should I contact?
If you believe that you have received the wrong validity period, you should contact the USCIS National Customer Service Center at 1-800-375-5283 or 1-800-767-1833 (TTY).
For additional information, or if your application has been approved and you have not received your EAD, please contact the USCIS National Customer Service Center at 1-800-375-5283 or 1-800-767-1833 (TTY)

I got the EAD yesterday too for one year. It was sent after June 30. But the good thing is that the start date is after current EAD expiry. So I am good. I am not planning for any appeal etc. We are already taking as much effort for the GC. My personal opinion is to not spend my energy on anything other than GC as long as my status is maintained.

Received our cards too, yesterday for one year validity start from the expiry date on the current one. Our application was sent on June 10, Receipt Notice dated on June 11, approved and card production ordered on July 1, Mailed on July 3, Received on July 5 by me. Since approval date was July 1, expected to see, 2 yr validity, but got disappointed, but happy the card in approved so quick, as I'm now working on EAD.

Refering to Q&A from USCIS, it should be possible to request for 2 year validity, but not sure, since it also states couple of weeks from June 30, thatz when you will see 2 yr validity.

Will have to check with my Attorney, next week and will probably take action, based on this counsel.

Referring to below link, FAQ for 2 year EAD,
http://www.uscis.gov/files/article/2yrEAD_FAQ_061208.pdf

1. Applicants filing Form I-765 under 8 C.F.R., Section 274.a.12(c)(9) should begin to receive their two-year EAD a couple of weeks after the anticipated June 30, 2008 implementation date.
2. USCIS will decide whether to renew an EAD for either a one or two-year validity period based on the most recent Department of State Visa Bulletin available at http://travel.state.gov/visa/frvi/bulletin/bulletin_1360.html.
3. If I believe I have received an EAD with the wrong validity period or other incorrect information who should I contact?
If you believe that you have received the wrong validity period, you should contact the USCIS National Customer Service Center at 1-800-375-5283 or 1-800-767-1833 (TTY).

I have written a letter to Rep. Zoe Logfren sent a copy each to William Yates, President of US and VP of US. I wrote them how on one hand William Yates kept mentioning USCIS being too busy, during a recent hearing in the house and on the other hand USCIS rushed to adjudicate 1000s of EAD application for 1 year just for the greed of Fee. I also mentioned about no policy is being made for 2 years AP or a single document for EAD/AP.

Thanks mirage...on support for IV community sake..

It's been over 2 months now...still my application for EAD renewal is sitting somewhere gathering dust...i wonder why people here, who got their EADs well in time, within 2-3 weeks timeframe are complaining.

From what it looks, even if USCIS approved their EADs a week later...u wud have still got an EAD with one yr validity. I don't see the point in complaining?

USCIS left it open-ended in their previous memo - when they state ppl shd start getting 2-yr EADs within few weeks of June 30th...few weeks could mean one, two or several weeks...one can not do anything against them.

To those who already got their approvals...if i were u, i'd be happy, i am off the hook for another yr....

Agree .People should think about the loss of employment if EAD is not approved in time and mental tension associated with that . That loss is more than $ 340 when you can get approval in a week/10 days time

You are mixinp up 2 things. Your approval which did not get in time and USCIS approving 50K EADs with 9 months(effectively) validity in 15 days just to have the people come again next year with a $360 checks are 2 diierent issues. If USCIS had been doing it always and if USCIS plan to do it in 20 days in the future it will be fine for us. But what we are trying to say is the whole objective of approving 50K application in 15 days is money and has nothing to do with improved efficiency..

Oh well, the last time i checked, it's capitalism? I am not a USCIS spokesman, and am in the same boat as u r, but that's the way things r - not only with immigration, but every aspect of life here.

If u want non-profit govt intervention, our country still welcomes professional US H1B workers... :-)

I am not trying to piss off u or anyone else here who got their EADs in time, I am just consoling u with the fact tht, u r in a much better position than many others....maybe u shd take tht into account.

I seriously doubt if USCIS approved ur EAD in haste and this was a conspiracy to not give u a 2 yr EAD.....
