I just got a call from back home that my father had a stroke. I do not currently have an Advance Parole.
I will really appreciate if someone can guide me on getting AP immediately.
How soon I can get the AP?
What is the process of getting faster AP?
What documents are needed?
Thanks in advance,

If you have a valid H-1B, you can get the visa stamping done and don't need AP to return.

I had the similar situation.Called the USCIS no and asked to expedite based on medical emergency in India. They opened a SR and gave me the no.Didn't give any proof of emergency and they told me that if needed they will ask for it.Meanwhile I asked the doc in india to send me the letter for the emergency.I also contacted the senator office.Next day My status changed approved(AP).Got the physical AP in 6 days.

Hope it helps

Prayers for your dear dad, hope he recovers soon.
Check with your attorney, get the receipt/copy of AP (if you have already applied), and 485 receipt, and go to the local USCIS office near your zipcode( check for infopass or go there early morning and explain to staff), along with the medical certificate or (hospital admission note from India issued from the hospital/Doctor, they can scan it and send it to your email). It is better to take a print out of a new advance parole petition online and take the required fees and two passport photographs along with you, when you go to the office so that you are well prepared and it saves time. You could request to meet the supervisor/center director, also and explain your critical situation. They can hopefully expedite it or issue emergency parole for you to travel immediately.
God Bless..

I recently got an AP for my wife under an emergency situation. Her mom had a heart attack and her respiratory system seized to function.

Here was our situation. We hadnt applied for an AP renewal. We were about to, though.
We made an info pass appt. We didnt get a slot for the same day but we still went ahead and made an appt for the next available date. We then went to the local USCIS office and explained to them our situation and that we had made an appt for a later date. After a few checks, they let us in.

Inside, the officer told us that only my wife could get an AP (which was ok by us). the offer (she) rejected the doctor's report showing the condition of the mom. She said that the report needed a 'prognosis' and a 'diagnosis'; She also said she would need to see my wife's plane tickets (which we didnt have at that time because all of this happened so suddenly). She also said that she wouldnt make any copies of the documents we were presenting and that we'd have to make them for the USCIS. So, we had to come back the next day with all these requests. The officer, however, gave us a note that would allow us to bypass the queue for the next day.

My wife and I went to the USCIS office the next day, this time with a detailed doctor report with the diagnosis and prognosis, medical bills, etc etc. We had also booked her flight tickets. When we presented all the documents with the cashier's check for the AP they told us that the fee had increased. So, now we again had to go out run and obtain a casher's check (for the difference) from the closest bank. When we came back presented all the docs and the chasher's check, they finally gave us my wife's AP. Between the two days of visit to the USCIS, we would have spent about 9 hours (wait time). Not bad i would say considering we are dealing with the USCIS.

Another point the officer mentioned was that if my wife already had a AP case pending with them it could have been easier and we neednt have gotten the detailed doctor's report that we presented to them the second day.

So, please check the following before you go to the office:
1. the latest AP fees in the USCIS. Call them and ask. Because we were certain we got a check for the amount listed in the USCIS website.
2. Do you have an AP pending with them? If not, get a detailed medical and doctor's report. In fact if you can just get all the doctor's details from back home. Dont risk it.
3. Book flight tickets if you can before going to their office. Some agents let you book it for 24 hrs before you can cancel it. We booked it and then had to cancel it and rebook it again. However, we lost some $$$

Wish you all the best. I am sure things will work out for the best. And stay cool although its hard.

Sorry for the late reply. I was out visiting my father.
Here is what I did.
• Applied the Advance Parole online the same day I heard the news that my father is not doing well.
• Told my family (back home) to scan all the reports and medical documents and send it to me via email.
• Booked “Info Pass” Appointment (I did not see the option for Advance Parole therefore booked it under EAD) for the next day I received all the documents via email
Took the following to the “Info Pass” interview
• All the medical records, doctors’ analysis, CAT Scans & MRI reports.
• Advance Parole Receipt (Online application receipt)
• EAD Card
• I-485 & I-140 receipts (copies)

NOTE: I did not book the tickets before the “Info Pass” Appointment
Here is the “Info Pass” interview:
Officer called me ask me for the reason to issue emergency Advance Parole. I told the whole story and gave all the medical records. All reports were in the medical terms but fortunately in one of the report it was mentioned that this medical condition may because of stroke or brain injury.
Officer asked me to get all the reports in the layman’s language. I told officer that it may take additional week to get everything here and then requested him to please consider my case for the emergency Advance Parole. Officer told me to wait and then went to talk to the supervisor and I was told to wait in the waiting room. After 2 hours I was given the Advance Parole.

Here is the conclusion: Make sure to get the medical records translated in to the layman’s language.
Once again thanks to everyone for the valuable suggestions.

Thanks for sharing this...Hope you father is better.

I also let my AP lapse for a year as i had no travel planned and was faced with a similar situation...in my case my parents didn't tell me till a week after the incident...by then things had calmed down and it wasn't a medical emergency anymore.

i won't be making the mistake of letting AP lapse anymore

In addition to following the process, Contact local Senator (http://www.senate.gov/general/contact_information/senators_cfm.cfm)or House Rep (http://www.house.gov/house/MemberWWW.shtml). Office and for genuine cases, they are very helpful. I know, in NC, for a case, the Office of David Price (http://price.house.gov/) helped on a similar situation and the AP was approved in less than 24 hrs after his office contacted USCIS couple years back. Most cases, for genuine emergency, they will help.
