Hi,

Anybody recently filed PIO through Travisa at DC embassy, please share your experience. I sent the application for my 1 and a half month daughter who is born here, and planning to travel to India in June. I would like to know how long does it take if the documentation is correct and is there any tracking system to know the status.

One of my friends who applied in Jan, got it in 2 weeks. I haven't heard of any delays.

Well, The Travisa & Embassy web site recommends not to book tickets.

Travisa is very good in updating the status at each step. In my case, my son's US passport was submitted on a Friday to Indian Embassy and they processed on following Monday and returned to Travisa on Tuesday, Although Travisa updates, they shipped passport/pio to me on Tuesday, It left the facility only on Wednesday and I received next day.

I personally will wait till I secure the documents in hand before any travel arrangements.

Did you get attestation for baby's passport copies and birh certificates?

I attached notarized copy of birth certificate, but not to passport as we are also sending the original.

The Travisa website doesnt say that they require notarised copies of anything.

No issues I got it in 10 days...tracking you would get emails about the approval.

Can't believe getting usa passport for my little one required two page application and just the birthcert, But for PIO they need everything in the world!

I just got PIO for my daughter in 6 working days. Compared to my PP application, this service was super fast.

I sent one for my daughter's PIO 2 weeks ago and got it back on the 6th biz day. They do a great job for $12 service fee :)

PIO is GREEN CARD for India.

How many papers you have sent for your PERM & I-140 so far?

You need to hire a truck to send your I-485 papers in next stage.

Dear friends,

has anyone applied for an endorsement of new passport information on PIO card with Travisa? How long did it take them to do it?

Also, does anyone know if they accept walk-in applications? (Houston)...

I did apply PIO for my daughter 3 weeks ago and it's still processing. This is NY consulate. The status simply says couple more days!

Yeah, because you applied for US passport for a US citizen :D, whereas PIO was permanent entry card for a foreign national. Naturally more documentation is required where foreign nationals are involved, look at your own green card process :D

I applied for my son's PIO endorsement with new passport number on April 8, 2011 and got approval confirmation on May 4, 2011.. 4 days after confirmation approval, I recieved his PIO and other documents.
This is from Travisa, related to NY Indian Consulate.

Hope this helps.

You are so lucky. I had hard time with them and they are the worst. It's sad that we have to deal with Travisa (the same way we struggle with the immigration system). I am guessing they may go out of business with their arrogance in a few years from now.

I felt the same, with travisa being involved as out sourcing company, more delays before and after the approvals and extra processing fees. Hope they improve the process. But atleast they have passport tracking system in place, which is not bad.

I too had a pleasent experience with travisa twice for PIO of my 2 kids. This was for NY consulate and one was for endorsment other was a fresh application. Both were done in about 3-4 weeks and the tracking was good too.
