Without employment after filing I-485

I filed for I-485 in July 2007. My company is being acquired. If I get laid off and if I am without a job for 1-2 months before getting another one, will there be any problem ? How long can we be legally out of employment in this case without jeopardising the case?

I received an RFE for EVL letter and in that CIS asked us to back the Employment Letter with pay stubs / W2/ Tax returns. Little history We applied in August 07 at that time we had submitted EVL along with last 6 paystubs and 3 years of IT returns. Received an RFE on August 2008 so sent all the 12 pay stubs from 08/2007 - 08-2008 along with 2007 IT return to satisfy CUS. So you never know when you might get an RFE so it is better to have paystubs else be prepared to explain that you were in authorized leave without pay
