a person living in USA for last 2 and 1/2 yrs can book a visa appointment anywhere?

Hi,

I have been living in USA for past 2 and 1/2 yrs.
I am going to india for a vacation and need to go for H1B stamping.

Could you clarify if i can book an appointment anywhere in India?
(my parents live in Andhra Pradesh)

If you are away from india for more than six months, In the Vfs website, you will be allowed to do so. I have done this in 2010.

it does not matter how long the stay, one can book an appointment any where in India.

I am pretty sure, in DEC 2010, consular jurisdiction had been removed for all the visa types. For H1B, there is no consular jurisdiction.I have booked an appointment in HYDERABAD, after staying in USA for 37 months.
