Passport renewal at San Francisco (cgisf.org)

Any recent experience with passport renewal at San Francisco Consulate ?
I applied for renewal and they asked me to pickup after a month. Any chance I can get it early ?
Any personal experiences will be appreciated.

I sent my passport for renewal on 13th April by mail (USPS) and got my renewed passport on 28th April. So Fast!

Hi when your passports were at the consulate did you travel much? If so what sort of documents did you carry with you? I am planning to submit my passport for the purpose of obtaining police verification certificate at the Newyork consulate and it might take a month or more to obtain. Meanwhile I have to travel within the US. Is it ok to just carry a photocopy of the relevent pages of the passport? Does the Indian consulate give us any proof that they have our passport with them?

thanks. Unfortunately I chose to apply and pickup in person. They told me to pickup after 30 days. Is it possible for me to pickup early if it is ready (I can request a status check to find out if it is ready).

We sent our passports on Feb 15th by USPS certified priority mail and got the new ones around March 15th in the USPS express mail envelope that we had sent.. They are pretty good at sticking to the 15-20 business days timeframe mentioned on their website

Hi,

If you ask any one in the consulate, When will i receive my passport renewal...The answer will be 1month. But it takes 1 week only. I applied on April 26th and i received my passport on 2nd May 2011. So dont worry....
