Guys,

Sorry for seemingly stupid question. But I have never applied for an advance parole before. I am just curious what kind of document is it? I mean, is it a card like an EAD card, or an approval notice like H1B approval notice, or a I-94 kind of card?

I recently travelled on AP

its a plain paper like approval notice. You should get two in the same envelope.it should have your color photo imprinted on it.

Verify the Date of Expiry and number of times its valid(muliple/single entry).

Thanks for the reply. So when we travel on AP, do we need to show it while leaving US, or while re-entering US? Do they keep a copy with them at any point during the travel? Also, does the new I-94 that we get at the point of entry has its expiry date based on AP?

My current I-94 has already expired. It was based on an H1B petition that expired long back. So will that create any problem in re-entering US if I travel on AP?

Sargon,

It is just like any other receipt, except that is has your photo on it and you would get two copies which you can use to travel outside of US only in case of emergency.

Go to USCIS website and click on the link forms. search for I-131 and when you click the link, if you notice on the right hand side you have the option to do it online. you need to register first and then you can start filling the form, be carefull while fillling some times it is bit confsuing. after you finsih do not forget to take print outs and save a copy.

You need to write a letter as to why you need I 131 and submit necessary docuemnts, say receipt of I 485, you status docuemnts (what status are you currently in) two photos, feees.

It was not that difficult to do it online or paper. so good luck on that.
