I am looking for insurance for my parents too. Atlas series insurance seems to be the only one which provides any degree of coverage for acute worsening of pre existing medical condition.

My advise is to buy insurance which reside in USA. It will be very difficult to talk to India insurance 1-800 nunbers if any emergency medical and also re-imbursement from India is very difficult.
Most of the hospitals will try to contact insurance(1-800) prior to medical treatment. Response will not be as expected from India due to difference in time etc.

Can you recommend any good visitor insurance policies that are sold in the US.
I have used both, India insurance and one from here. First time I took LIC, my parents had to undergo physical checkup, declare everything and there was more paper work. I used that insurance here for one doctor visit, I agree with walker, it is not easy to communicate using that 1800 number and the doctor that they suggested had not heard of it, we went back and forth before getting the treatment.
This time I went for Patriot America, it was very easy to get an insurance, you can get one online within 15 minutes, no paperwork, the documents will come to your place. the doctors recognize this insurance easily and the customer service is great, but you can use this insurance for common things like fever cold and for emergencies, they do not cover existing conditions. My mom had to undergo a treatment, but the insurance treated it as an existing condition since though the symptoms showed up here, it was due to a condition that originated there. If you are sure that there is no pre-existing condition you can go for this insurance..
Just weigh your options…
I have used Patriot America visitors insurance for my parents early this year.

I have used patriotamerica earlier this year for my parents. Coverage is provided by Coventry health plan which had good coverage in my area. Check if your area is covered(has enough providers) on coventry healthcare website before buying from patriotamerica

This is very good as this is underwritten by The Insurance Company of the State of Pennsylvania, New York, NY which is rated A++.
