Does anyone know whether people who missed their stimulus benefit of $1200.00 last year because of spouse not having SSN are eligible this year, if the spouse gets SSN?

Yes...when you file your taxes for 2008...you should have a section to claim it....check with CPA

How will the spouse get SSN this year, are you saying because of getting ED or are you talking about getting a SSN for stimulus benefit alone and not for work permit.

If Spouse gets SSN post delivery of stimulus benefit, will they be eligible to claim tax benefit?

Say they applied for EAD during Jul-Aug VB fiasco, they got their EAD in Aug 08, will they be eligible for tax benefit.

I spoke to IRS customer support in April this year and she said we can claim the stimulus this year (2008 Tax year) if spouse gets SSN by virtue of recent EAD or Green card.

Can you get 2007 year stimulus payment too if you didn't apply in 2008? I mean if you get ssn in 2008 and in 2009 can you get combined stimulus of 2007 and 2008?

None declared so far per my knowledge. In the hypothetical scenario that there is another stimulusfor 2008, you will get 2007+2008.

there could be possibly 2 stimulus package. One in the next few weeks before change of guard. if it's not large enough, there could be one more after the new prez is sworn in.

short term it's good...addl cash in our kitty. long term...more national debt for our kids...of course assuming that we'll get our gc's. sorry for the folks w/o ssn...unfortunate.
