Did anyone have experience extending the short term validity passport from CGISF, like Tatkal passport from India valid for five years.

Recently I do so and they just gave the same old passport with the old data page saying the old expirty data. Only thing they added new was a rubber stamp saying the passport has been extended for five more years and the new expiry date as five additional years (written in hand).

Will there be any issues when travelling to India or getting back to US. Please share your thoughts.

They know what they are doing. Therefore, whatever the consulate did is correct.

Thanks for the reply.

Hope the inefficient/ignorant staff at CGISF know what they are doing. I am afraid for the re-entry at US port of entry.

The CBP officers at the port of inspection also put a stamp and write with hand the immigration status on the I-94. So how is that valid and not CGISF entry? :D

How about showing some respect to others.
