Hi,
My parents are going to visit me next month and I want to get some Indian channels for their entertainment. I know there is a thread that was posted previously and I am wondering if there are any new promising things on the market.
As I am looking for Telugu and possibly Hindi channels I see that there are none which offer those choices which are good.
I heard about RelaibleIPTV for telugu channels but I am not sure about their quality. Does anybody have RelaibleIPTV and how was your experience?
I live in an apartment so DISH IPTV is out of the question and local cable companies dont offer many southasian channels.
Any recommendations of alternative options will be great.

Thanks in Advance

we recently watched channels on reliable tv at one of my friends place and it is excellent...
my friend recommended streaming internet through wired connection instead of wireless... also purchase a roku xds, if possible...

Buy a ROKU box for 50 $ and get YUPP TV subscription and you should be good to go. The point to remember is that you need a good internet connection for ROKU box to work with, FIOS is best, comcast broad band is good too, but DSL or dial up will not work

Get Roku and the get Watch Live Indian TV Channels Online With High Quality (http://www.yupptv.com/) package for the languages you want. I have hooked up Roku to my TV and super happy with the roku/yupptv combination.

I have roku + Verizon FIOS + ReliableIP TV

Quality is okay not so bad and not so great. I do get "buffering..." message once in a while. Recently they stopped Gemini TV Movies and giving Maa movies; Rest of the channels are okay.

If you have a samsung LCD/LED tv with internet connection you can try Samsung YUPPTV application. There are lot of channels available thru samsung applications (no need of roku player). I heard you can see similar applications on Sony TV too.

Yupp tv archives are free using Samsung TV application; you can watch old stuff.

I have used Watchindia.tv earlier. Quality very good. Customer Service very good. The only thing that I do not like is , the company is based in Cypres and you need to send your credit card number. I think it makes sense to use a pre-paid card for this (and keep loading just the monthly billing amount).

It is interesting! I have sony Blueray player and I specifically bought it for netflix instead of Roku but yupptv doesn't support Sony devices (yet!) so I may have to buy Roku after all if not hookup my desk top hdmi cable to TV

Thanks

I have been using the TV Box provided by WatchIndia.tv, the quality is reasonably good but sometimes there is buffering. Moreover I get several Bangali channels which I do not get with any other service. For payment I use Paypal instead of giving them my credit card details.

I am using JADOO tv. I have seen the whole world cup live on Jadoo tv and seems like total "PAISA VASOOL" thingi. Quality is not high but I am using LED with 8M:1 ratio TV, which makes it watchable from 5 feet distance. Running on Wireless DSL (comcast).

We have some issues during the month of april & may, and thought they have stopped the services, but from last 2-3 weeks it is also running fine. getting many channels. buffering is there in some channels but not that bad for one time 160$ tool.
If you are looking for GOOD QUALITY, try other stuff.. small 1 time unit for 160$ but not guaranted of the time till it will keep on supporting.
Anyone else using JADOO tv ?

Brother, we two are the BIGGEST SUCKERS in this thread, having gone for Sony. Sony NEVER likes to accommodate other manufacturers or providers for their products. Sigh, if I had known that my DVD player is much more than just a DVD player these days, I might have gone for Roku.

But, if YOU happen to find out what file formats the Sony BD player supports, I could work out a hack. At first I thought it will read HTML, but no. No HTML, no XML. It does listen on port 50000 or something (get a port scanner and test it out, or just go to its IP using the browser)

Basically, I would create a menu item, called "Internet videos", and once user (us) clicks, it will direct to google.com (the way it should have worked from the start, IMO)

Yes, since I already know it doesn't speak html, I will update my plan :) but first I want to know what format is its menu system. It apparently runs on linux ...

Update: I just found this (for what it is worth) -- this allows you to stream ANY content from your laptop to your BD player:
http://sourceforge.net/projects/minidlna/

This could be just for Fedora though :( ... but WMP also functions as a DLNA server (My BD player connects to it) but I haven't figured out how to stream from there

I use shopsafe from Bank of America for reliance, airtel stuff where you don't trust ppl. You can create a temp credit card no with ur own limit and duration.

don't forget to add Apple to that list.

Apple is at least a little developer-friendly, and you may be able to install stuff that gives you what you want. But Sony has no development savvy, stuck in their outdated model of doing things. They still think they can hold consumers to ransom, but it is not true any more; they have to wake up and see the world..

YES IT IS VERY BAD. I FIND IT WORSE THAN watchIndia.tv

I had one year subscription with watchindia. And now with DISH IPTV, which is worse than watchindia.

I have been using ReliableIPTV for more than 2 years, service is depend on the Internet speed; Recently I have moved to comcast internet service had trouble for a week and settled down now.

Once in a month you will hit a problem with service for 1 or 2 days, but resolves afterwards.

You can buy Roku and add YuppTV and watch free news channels, and I have also tried teluguTV which did not stream properly.

I have 55' LED LCD with 1080P support, and Roku V1 with ReliableIPTV and Comcast 20MBPs download speed. With that combination, I am happy with reliable IPTV service so far.

Star Network now has all of their channel's episodes on their website in HD quality. Mostly they are the previous day's episodes. Good enough for me....

I have dishnetwork with DVR for 2 rooms and get almost 17 indian channels +English channels and I pay $60/Month . I just don't understand what is the point in Nickel and diming on these things for a few $$, especially when you want to watch something and you cannot or has to struggle hours to make it work and then right at the climax its buffering....................................

I did it all PANSAT, Laptop, Roku and then finally decided to throw everything out of the window and get on dishnetwork. Its works when I want it and I can record also.+ I bought BWCinema for latest movies and will be closing the Netflix account as everything on it is crap, instead whenever I want I can go to redbox and rent a movie and watch.

If you average the amount of time spent +money spent on gadget, you would find that it almost or actually more that you spent in terms of Quality and entertainment index.

Cheers !!

I agree with you completely.. however I have a question - how do you stream BWCinema without a laptop or PC connected to the TV? I have Google TV and PS3 and both have full featured browsers but BWCinema does not work on either one of them.. :( In fact the BWC's site states that it does not work on Rocku (sic), GTV, and other streaming devices.

Thats exactly what I do as well but I was wondering if you had figured anything else that could eliminate the PC from the set up.

By the way LogMeIn is also free on iPad now. It used to be $30 until about couple of months ago.

You can create as many accounts as you want, pretending like they are all different people.

At the end of the day, however, we are not stupid. Go to the link that I posted and read the third post. As any fool can see, this is all marketing hype.

While the product itself might be real, I cannot and will not purchase or recommend a product where the producer tries to trick consumers into buying his product.

It is rather interesting that these "multiple other people" all come from the same IP address and are all posted within minutes of each other. LOL

That's right! Caught red-handed, again. That site is a BitTorrent site. We can all view your IP address, idiot.

Roku recently released new version of device roku 2. Get the superior version and download DishTV app. You need to subscribe $45 monthly service but quality is impeccable and all major Indian channels and much better than Dish IPTV itself.
