1 year H1 extension approval when filed for 3 years

5th year (1st) H1b extension approved only for one year instead of 3 years(did h1b transfer to current employer after 10 months in h1b). Current employer applied for 3 yr extension in Feb 2011 but got approved for 1 yr in May 2011. Current employer clearly mentioned 3 years of project in petition (actual project is signed for a year) and also, there is a prime vendor between client and my employer. Unable to get the client letter for extn but, got vendor letter, reference letter from co-worker and other stuff.

6 yr h1b ends in Jul 2013, wonder why would uscis extend for only 1 yr when I-140 was already approved??

You have mentioned the reason as well. That line is underlined. Since project is signed only for one year, H1-B is approved that duration.

Now a days its the trend....USCIS issues visa maximum of one year only, if you dont have the client letter/PO for three years...

More money for lawyers and USCIS....:D:D:D

How do you know that? Is simply your assumption that you believe MUST be correct, since you are the one who knows about it.

If H1-B was approved for 3 years in error, you cant claim same error again. Try using this logic and discuss with your lawyer.

H-1B can be approved for duration UPTO 3 years (Read again - upto). This depends on duration in LCA and your project duration mentioned in the contract with end client (read again, end client contract).

Last, and certianly not the least, please work on your frustration management.
