Today I have decided to make a contribution to IV for $100. Hopefully I will be making such contributions at regular intervals going forward.
Receipt number for this payment is: 1210-7417-5536-0909
Did not attend any of the advocacy organized by IV. Not because I did not see the value or felt it was not important, but because was genuinely not able to participate.
I visited/logged in the site almost every day (tell me who doesn’t ). This site provided so much information and so many interesting topics were/are discussed. Did post a couple of questions when I was stuck in 221G in one of my visits back home.
I am sure we all must have gained “at least an ounce of extra knowledge” as a result of logging and going through the blogs. So, I ask the question to those who have received their GC’s. Are you willing to give back something for the benefits you received. I am sure you would not have logged in had you not felt there was some benefit in doing so. If you posted a question and got any response that you thought benefitted you or helped you in any way, then contribute. Realize that you would have paid at least something to the lawyer had you approached them. If not anything, people may have got a sense of relief, ease of anxiety knowing …”ah…there was someone whose case was similar as mine…and it was resolved…so mine will be resolved too”….. “Usually psychiatrists treat anxiety and they charge a bunch!!!”. There might be so many posts I am sure you came across that told you what to do or what not to do. Even though it was not your question you gained some knowledge - you benefitted. I am sure many of them visit this site even after you got your GCs. If you are one of them, please contribute.
If you disagree completely, and say you did not benefit even a bit, that’s fine. Just contribute because you are happy, you are relieved, you don’t have to go to stampings, you wife can go to work (for those who were always complaining that their H4 partner can’t work) etc…etc….etc…
About my GC journey:
Came to US as a student in F1 in 2001
Graduated with PhD and MBA in 2005
In H1 from 2005 until 07/2011
Employer applied for my GC in 2006
I485 approved in July (PD Dec2006)
