After Zoe Lofgren's bill last month, house republicans are coming out with their version of high skilled immigration reform. Looks like a lot of activity is going on in Congress from both sides for high skilled immigration.

Kudos to IV for trying to cure the myopic eyes(read illegal immigration:)) of law makers and make them aware of the benefits we are bringing to the table.

"The lawmaker who may introduce the bill featuring the Republican's approach to skilled immigration is Rep. Jason Chaffetz of Utah. His office said staffers are working on a bill that isn't exactly the same as the discussion draft, and added that a bill on immigration-related legislation will be ready soon -- though it didn't provide a specific timeline."

Admins - Do we have a communication channel open with the above law makers?

Thanks,
Schumy

Dems and Reps have been "trying" to fix the backlog for many years now.

Folks,

Please note there is no partisanship(Dem Vs Rep) in my post. I just saw the article and wanted to share with everyone. As smuggymba put it they both are "trying" for years to address immigration issues. After all they are career politicians..:)...Peace!!

Thanks,
Schumy

That proposed 'solution' is no solution at all. Instead of lifting EB3I/C out of distress, they are plunging the rest of the world into worse distress, so everyone will be equally miserable with minimal benefit to I/C. The bottom line is that there is much more demand than supply. The supply, ie the green card quota needs to be increased.

Considering the fact that most of the applicants are already in the US working as H1B, it would not be wise to deflate the demand, vital industries would be negatively affected. We are working here because our skills are needed. What should be done is a more sensible path from H1B to permanent residence that does not involve the groveling and begging that we have to do right now.

I agree. The pie is small after all. India EB3 dates are at a miserable 2002. That more than 9 years of backlog. ROW would seemingly be upset that their wait time will increase from 3-5 years to more for EB3 but think about ppl from 2002. Even EB2 is over 4 years backlogged; atleast EB2 is current for ROW. I'm pray US comes up with a better solution that benefits all.

A guy from latin america joined our company on the same day as me...he got a GC 6 months ago and mine will probably 3-4 years from now.
