hi i applied for passport renewal through SFO office. its been 2 weeks they received it on 18th july, no update yet. how would i check status no one picks up phone call.

Is there a way to now put my application to Tatkal. I have to go on a cruise on aug 28 which is 4 weeks from now.

How should i go abt this.

Give it 20 working days. They are pretty good at sticking to the published processing times and I'm very positive that you will receive it on or before the 20th working day.

the thing that worries me is if i dont get the passport in time how would i expedite it to tatkal.

i will give it 20 working days. i also emailed them through the link on the consulate webpage.

SFO consulate is good. Wait until their published time. If you don't receive after published time then you can send them a email with your details.

My friend received it in the 4th week. This was in Jan 2011. I visited the consulate at the end of 3rd week to find the status of his passport and they informed me that it went for printing. He got 3-4 business days after my visit.

SFO office is pretty good in my experience.

No one picks up phone - because there is no dedicated person for it.

If you leave message they will call back - this 100% works if you state you have emergency and need your passport in TATKAL - there is separate fee, but you will get your passport same day.

it has been 20 working days till date and still not received it.
the tracking info for my return package is still not available and leave on cruise in 10days.how do i contact them and how do i tatkal it.

please help
