My wife got a 1 year EAD on her 3rd renewal instead of 2 years. When our attorney's office contacted them, they were told to do a NEW appln all over again. Anybody had this happen? How long it took for you to receive a new one? I'm interested in you guys' similar experience as this re-filing also involves us sending back the card we got with 1 year validity.

Appreciate your response!

Yes, Same thing happened to me and my wife. EAD is approved only for one year. I think the rational might be that (at-least in my case) the dates are current and it should not take more than a year to get the GC.

Thanks for the response jay1ram2.

I'm interested in knowing if anyone had success in re-filing and receiving a new card with 2 year validity? I'm trying to decide whether or not to go thru this process of re-applying again.

Thanks in advance!

we got a EAD-AP combo card for my son valid only for 1 year. I took info-pass and they said it's not guaranteed that you will get a 2 year card. If you want you can re-apply which involved sending back the card that we have. So we decided not to do that :(
Next time I am going to apply for EAD and AP separately. I would be interested in knowing what do you plan to do in your case?

I ran into this issue previously with my EAD and with my wife's EAD though I got 2 yr EAD this year. Like some one said you need to reapply and submit previous EAD . Submitting approved EAD has its own disadvantages like you cannot extend your Driver's License etc., . Like rest of you guys I had given up.
I am not sure the USCIS logic behind 1 yr EAD v/s 2 yrs EAD. I assume we need to esclate this issue as this is tantamount to shoddy service by USCIS.

Thanks guys. Well, no success story yet on re-applying and receiving a new card with 2 year validity.

Per my attorney's office's past experience, they tried to re-apply on couple folks last year and they received the same card (with 1 year validity) without any changes indicating that the card was still valid and that a new one could not be applied for and generated until 120 before the expiration of the current card.

I'm not sure if I wanna re-apply until I hear a success story from one of my fellow IVian.

Usually EAD is given for one year when there is a great chance that the GC will be issued in the near future. Please consider donating to IV (the current action item) incase you have not already done so. The more people join the better and easier it is going to be for IV leaders to work out future plans. :):)

When you have to re-apply, do you need to pay the fees again or just a new application without the fees? Thanks for your help.

I and my son too got the EAD for 1 year. I have talked to USCIS and raised a ticket. They asked to send the card and I got new card valid for 2 years valid from the date of issue rather than from the previous date. I have later sent my son's card and I am yet to receive that card. As per online info I should be getting that card this week. Hopefully it should be valid for 2 years.
During the discussions with the agent, I was told the same thing which was told in this thread that I will be likely getting the card shortly. But I still insisted on getting the card with 2 years and I got it.

I read it on some forum, if your PD is current at the time of approval of EAD/ Parole, you will get it for 1 yr only....not sure if that is the case here.
