Contract work in Canada

I am considering temp contract work in Canada. This requires travel every week to Canada. I know that I don't need VISA when visiting Canada as I have GC. Not sure same applies when I travel for business every week. Do I need to get work permit to accept temporary work? I am independent consultant working through a sub contractor.

Any pointers? Googling did not give me any concrete pointers.

Yes, you need work visa.
