Immigrationvoice has started an initiative to create a platform where members and lawyers can interact with each other for members to get FREE answers to their immigration questions. Lawyers on the other hand will get to display their FREE banner ad on the site as well above all their posts for participating in this initiative. This is a free service for both lawyers and members and we want to include more lawyers in this initiative.
For the past one month we have run a beta program with 3 immigration lawyers and the response was good. We will now like to roll this out and expand this further so that IV members can get answers to their immigration questions from the lawyers on IV forums.
IV needs your help:
Please contact your immigration lawyers and inform them of this program. Ask them if they are interested. If they are interested, ask them to contact IV at info at immigrationvoice.org
Here is the template letter you can use to contact your immigration lawyer
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
I represent Immigration Voice.
Immigration Voice has over 33,000 registered members and an extremely large potential client base for the immigration lawyers with around 25 million page views every year. To help the employment based immigrant community, recently we have started a new program – ‘Ask an Attorney’. This program enables lawyers and/or law firms to advertise with the target potential clients. For this initiative we are inviting select immigration lawyers and law firms.
Ask-an-Attorney program facilitates communication between Immigration Voice registered members and Immigration lawyers so that lawyers could answer immigration related questions on Immigration Voice website for free. In return, for the answers from Immigration lawyers, Immigration Voice will display lawyer and/or law firm advertisement on the website. Every post from a lawyer will carry a header containing the name and address of the Law firm. Here is a sample of the live site –
http://immigrationvoice.org/forum/showthread.php?p=327752#post327752
Also, the website will display banner ads of participating Law firms on the top right hand side of the website pages. If you are interested in participating in this program or if you have any question, please contact us at – info at immigrationvoice.org
This mutually beneficial program is free for both Immigration Voice members and attorneys. It will help us all
Please let me know your interest and we could set you up your account on the website.
Thanks,
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
We have attached a document about this feature below that might help you approach your immigration attorneys. Here is the link to Registration Guide for Ask-A-Lawyer program -

Clarification on this would help.
2. Some of the biggest law firms will have hundreds of clients who are member of IV. Assuming the worst case scenario, they will be hit with hundreds of emails and it may not give a good impression. Does IV has a plan to contact some of the biggies directly and if so, it would be good if IV provided a list of the same here so that duplication doesnt occur. << Please do understand that this is a worst case scenario and I'm prepared for folks jumping on me and providing examples of various efforts where hardly a few did something without recognizing the worst case scenario part - but thats a risk I'm fine with :-) >>

Let different people contact one lawyer multiple times. I do not see it a problem.

use info@
I already emailed with that email address.
Just a thought - my lawyer - a big firm was severely vilified in previous posts in IV. Also, being big, they will care little for the value of a banner ad.
Their marketing modus operandi has always been to capture decisions from senior executives.
My current lawyer is always inquisitive about how i get some info before they do.
My employer and lawyer is very tightly connected and i have never been able to have a glimpse into my labor or get a hard copy of my I140.
Overall, i am sure, IV will not be seen in a good light by the people i deal with.
i am refraining from this action until IV core suggests otherwise specifically.

A lawyer may answer a couple of questions and secure permanent banner ad. How do we determine that a lawyer is actively answering our questions? Can we assign points to each answer and show banner based on the points earned?

The number of 'thank you' a lawyer receives will determine the time of display of banner ad.

Just another thought I am not sure that IV had pursued it in the past....
There hundreds of associations of different immigrant communities from number of different countries (TANA, ATA, etc...)...I am naming just a few from southern India.... they do spend considerable amount of money for their cultural, social activities every year. They normally do have large number of registered immigrant population including citizens and non citizens. Why don't IV can also ask their support in terms of donations, help in activities so on and so forth. After all they and we all need some sort of representation in this country. If those organizations can help these hugely backlogged immigrants one day they can become voting power.. consider long term interests... just thinking out loud...comments welcome.

Pappu,
is there a easy way to lock down "Ask a Lawyer for FREE" for lawyers replies only? i.e members should be able to ask questions, but only lawyers should be able to respond. If members want suggestions/thoughts from other members, they can always post in other areas in the forum.
If there are many replies for the questions with partially correct (or incorrect) answers, IMO it makes it hard for lawyers to respond.

We want to keep it as an open forum where members can interact, discus and follow up with lawyers. If it is just one on one then we are keeping out the larger community of our members from asking similar/follow up questions or discussing the answer. Sometimes questions are answered by experienced members themselves. So it makes sense to involve all members rather than making it one on one. IV's intention is not to earn money from it like other sites but help members for free. In that process lawyers get to advertise for free as well.
