Hi,
My hubby's AP was originally approved till Dec 09. But since his passport expired in May 09, when we got back from our vacation, at the POE, they stamped it so that the AP would expire along with his passport.
Now he has his passport extended for another 10 years. Is there a way to get his AP renewed till Dec 09 again?
What can be done for this?
Any valid suggestions pls?
p.s one option we were told was to travel to another country (say canada) and return. We were wondering if there was any other simpler way to ask uscis to extend.

should be able to get it for an year. That will probably be less expensive as well as it will cost you 305$ to reapply, unless you live in a place where you can cross the border and get back in. That may require visa as well.

we did think about that option, but do they allow you to reapply now..since originally it was to expire in dec?

you only need AP if you expect to go out and return... if you do not have travel plans, then you dont have to do anything. if you want to keep an approved AP anyway, then you may have to apply fresh... In other words, does it even matter if the AP expires?

Say, you applied for your AP on Jan 1st 2009 and you got it approved from March 2nd 2009 to March 1st 2010. Assume you travel to India on May 1st 2009 and return on May 31st 2009. When you return, IO puts I-94 date as May May 30th 2010. That doesn't mean your current AP is extended from March 1st 2010 to May 30th 2010. If you plan to travel and return after March 1st 2010, you still need to apply for a new AP and get it approved.
