Passport validity for 485 processing - Please advice

Hi Guyz,

My PD is Jan 26,2009 and if the EB2 dates moves atleast 1 month in the next bulletin I will be eligible to apply for my I-485. My passport is expiring in 6 months. My question is, is there any restriction that the passport should be valid for a certain amount of time to apply for 485?? If so, for how much time?

There is no rule saying your passport should not be expire at the time of filing AOS. But it is always good to have your passport validity for more than 1 year.

Which Indian Consulate General center you have to visit for your passport extension?

Most Indian Consulate General will extend your passport in one week if you submit passport renewal application in person. I have renew my wife passport last month in one week time at NYC,NY by submitting renewal in-person.

My passport will expire in Feb 2011. I filled 485 this month. My attorney confirmed it will not be an issue. When you go for finger printing some times they may raise issue it seems, so my attorney asked me show only DL. If you want to be on safe end, you can renew passport on same day in tatkal just say them reason being you are current and need to file i 485. My friend was able to do this at SFO.
