Hello All ,
I came to US on 28th August 2011 on H1-B visa . My H1-B expiration date was 27 Dec 2011. So I filed for H1-B extension on 10th November 2011 under normal processing mode . Now my work is completed and I have to return to India . As the extension has not been approved till now . I would like to know:
-> Whether there will be any questioning on SFO and London airport regarding this as I am planning to go via London. Will the extension receipt be enough to convince the officer.
-> Whether US officials will blacklist my passport so that I will not be allowed to enter in US in future.
Thanks,
Tarun Batra

Tarun,
As per my guess, since your Visa stamp has expired, you have to take UK transit visa.

Going via london might not work since you dont have a valid visa/AP/GC. Your status is still fine since you have applied for extension and the application is pending. Just carry the receipt.
Now if your case is denied then I am not sure about your status since 27th Dec, 2011.

Thanks thomachan72.
I would be really thankful if you can assist me on below points:
-> Whether US officials will blacklist my passport so that I will not be allowed to enter in US in future as I am leaving before my extension approval.
-> Is it ok to go via other routes ( say via Emirates)

I was in a similar situation in 2002. You dont have to worry, just take a transit visa in UK as your visa expired.

--Yes, Reciept will be more than enough...Usually they dont ask anything when you are departing from US

---Absolutely NOT...you have done everything legal..
