My parents are visiting me from India and they plan to be in USA from Feb 13 2012 to Jun 14 2012. The IO in EWR has given I94 for 6 months but in the passport he has marked 4 months in writing in the seal that is normally stamped in the passport.

Should we be concerned that the 4 months expire on Jun 13 2012? Does this writing matter? Do we need to file for an extension for 1 day?

Please advice,

Thanks.

Go to your nearest international airport and talk to CBP (Customs and border patrol). Show them the I94 card and say in passport it is written wrong. They should be able to correct your passport entry as long as the passport and visa are valid.

I guess it would be a good idea to take appointment from CBP officer before going there. That way you may also get it clarified over the phone.

In my opinion you should never over stay your allowed period.

Would you happen to know how to reach out to the CBP officers in Newark airport? I tried google and got no satisfactory results.

Check the below link "http://www.cbp.gov/xp/cgov/toolbox/contacts/deferred_inspection/"

Call the # in website directly and fix an appointment.
Go with passport, I -94 and all visa documents.

Explain the situation to the officer and he/she should be able to rectify at the time of appointment.

Good Luck.
