H1B to B2?

I m a H1B holder, my Visa expires in 2014. I got fired from my architectural company at the end of February.
A friend of mine asked me to open a restaurant with him and we need to find a solution for me to stay so I can work on this project.
What are the best options? Should I transfer to a B2 Visa and then eventually move to another architectural job with the same H1B?
Is there a way to work for him as a designer for the restaurant?
