My girlfriend is a citizen of Thailand, and she lives in the US on a P-3 Visa. She is currently visiting her family in Bangkok. Last week, she brought her original I-797 and passport to the US embassy, went through the interview process, and received a new Visa. However, unfortunately she lost the Visa, Passport, and I-797 form shortly thereafter. Her flight back to the US leaves in just two weeks. She is on her way to get a replacement passport now, and then to the embassy later today to try and get her Visa replaced. However, I am worried that she will have problems because she only has a duplicate copy of the I-797 form, and not the original anymore. Does anyone know what happens in this situation, or if there is something more she can do to make sure she has what she needs in time for her flight back to the US?
