Can I use L1 I94 after I get fresh H1

Hi,

I am in L1 visa. My visa is valid until Nov 2012 and my I94 till 2014. I have applied for a Fresh H1 from a consultancy and it has been approved as a fresh H1. Now if I were to work for the consultancy do I have to travel outside US and get my visa stamped or can I start working for the consultant with the I94 that I currently possess.

Please answer at the earliest.

If you have received your COS from L1 to H1 with I-94 you can start working with the consultancy effective the start date on your H1.

I did not have COS. I got it approved as a Fresh H1 and not a L to H conversion.

Like "SKAL" said you can start working for H1 sponsoring employer from Oct 1 only

If you got a new I-94 with your H1 approval
Else
You have to go out of country and get your passport stamped with H1 visa.

Either case you can work only after Oct 1.

What do you mean by fresh H1? Is it subject to 2012 H1B quota?
