Does freelancing experience considerd for applying GC in BS+5 Category

Hi,

I am planning to apply for my GC through my employer in BS+5 Category.
Can I include my 1 year of freelancing experience as Independent Software Consultant
to fill the 5 year required experience .

I appreciate any help in this matter.
