Freinds I received and rfe for marriage certificate. our marriage was in a church and I have a certificate issued by the church but they need a govt issued certificate. I have not seen exact wording of the rfe but thats the summary of my attorney's email. she is out today but we will discuss this on monday. pls provide suggestions if you or any of your freinds have faced such an rfe. we have been here 10 years all the while on H1 and H4 and now they need more proof for being married. any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

I think they are requesting a goverment issued document. I procured my marriage certificate from the sub-registrar office, in addition to the church issued document. Consult about your options with the lawyer. Also look into the possibility of getting it from the sub-registrar office if possible.

Can you get the certificate from the subregistrar without actually registering the marriage? Did you go to India and get the marriage registered for this purpose? I have untio June 25 to answer the rfe and will need to do something soon.

Yes, you can register your marriage at Sub-reigstrar's office. We did 3 years after our marriage. It takes some effort and some.....
