Hi All,

In my GC process, PERM was for location X in Socal.
However, before I could file my I-485, I changed project within same company. Rest of the project members are in location Y, Norcal.
My I-485 was approved Jan 2012 (less than 3 months after filing).
It's been two months now after approval, and I am contemplating moving to Norcal (to be with my team).

I am little confused about location change (same employer) after GC. Some websites say, I still need to be in location X for about 6 months before I change location.

couple of questions:
1.) If I change location and remain with same employer, before 6 months, would it cause any troubles in future?
2.) If my manager writes a letter requesting me to change my location, will that make my location change (before 6 months) case strong?

Appreciate your responses,

Thanks

Dude,
You have to be with the same employer... whether at location A or Location B that does not count.
Why are you worried on such a pity thing which cannot be considered even near to be faulty.

This is my case :

After one and a half year of I-485 filed, I took AC21 and moved to Company B. This is a move from company A who sponsored my GC to company B because AC21 is allowed. I did not inform USCIS.

I asked many lawyers before doing this move, none said I will face any issues.
I did not have a GC when I was moving and now I am a GC holder.

Relax and move.

The question is location change within 6 months of GC approval.

The example (your case) is job change after 6 months. I know doing job change after 6 months of I-485 is safe due to AC 21.

I have spoke to my lawyer, and he says to wait for atleast 6 months, however researching online, I see there is no such thing as 6 months wait. So I am weighing in advise from experts/lawyers.

Even you don't need to be with same employer, once you get a greencard. This 6 month rule is not documented anywhere.
