My L1B/I94 expires on Oct 2012. I have to travel to india this July for a two week trip and should be back by end of that month. Will my I94 be extended at POE on my trip back ?

Your new I-94 will reflect the expiry date on your visa. If your current L1B VISA expires in Oct 2012 but, you have an extension approved (I-797), you need to get it stamped on your passport in order for you to get the new extension date.

If not, you will only get it until Oct 2012 when you reenter. Please remember that USCIS goes by the last action rule so it does not matter if you have an I-94 attached at the bottom of the I-797 extension which goes beyond the Oct 2012 (if you have an extension approved). It will be negated by the new I-94 issued at the POE which governs your length of stay.

So, bottom line is that you will be given the validity date of Oct 2012 unless you have a newly stamped visa that extends beyond that.
