I-485 pending. background check not cleared.

My husband filed I-485 in June 2010 for me. After interview no response and constant infopass appointments and service requests for 2 years. Result - nothing. Contacted the senator. The immigration office sent a reply saying that the background check is not cleared. after 2 month receive a N-14 notice to provide evidence for the very serious criminal charges my husband supposedly had 20 years ago which are ridiculous because he at the time was 10 years old. So there obviously has been a mistake.. It says in the paper that if we fail to provide the paperwork the case will be denied. What are we supposed to do at this point?

Can't you get them a statement from a court or a police clearing him? Looks lke they are getting their info from here (http://www.findermind.com/tag/best-background-check-services-companies)... Very unprofessional.
